Hiding geometry causes weird uneven brushing problems

I was going insane trying to figure out if this problem was just due to my own inability or not, but it appears as though I am mentally ok. Drawing over and over an area with claybuildup wasn’t giving me smooth results. There were lumps, and I was assuming I must have been altering my pressure. It happened repeatedly though, and through trial and error I was able to narrow down what was happening. Hiding the arm of my character was somehow affecting the brush’s effect on the visible portion nearby. Here’s a video to explain better than I can with words…

I draw once normally with the model fully visible. I then do the same exact thing, but with the model’s arms hidden.

Could someone tell me what’s going on here? When only applying light strokes, the warping is less substantial. For this reason I’m not sure if this has been happening more often than I realize.

If this is a bug that has already been discussed, I apologize for not finding that thread.

nice!!! instant cancer!

Anyway, it is not something I have seen mentioned before. I would report it to support and send them a link to the video as well.

Does this happen with other clay brushes or just the clay build up?
I can’t replicate the error you are getting unless I press quite hard
