hide mask? (answered)

hello,
how do i hide a mask?
i mean, let’s say i mask half my model, and i want to hide it so that i can see only the other half. how do i do that?

Ctrl+Shift to hide opposite of mask (green) and Ctrl+Shift+Alt to hide what’s under mask (red) and Ctrl+Shift+click on canvas to unhide all.

thank you,
am i doing something wrong? when i click ctrl+shift+alt on a mask, i get a message saying:
“playback requires minimum of 2 keyframe dots to be placed in the camera track”

?..

Your not painting a mask first are you? You don’t have to mask first. Just use the keys I said only. I can explain further if you need it.

either i paint the mask or i already have painted it - whenever i press ctrl+shift+alt and use the mouse on the model, i get that message.

Your making the mistake of drawing a mask first (Ctrl+LMB+drag). That’s not what you want to do. Don’t use a mask.

While holding down Ctrl+Shift, click on empty part of canvas and drag out a green colored mask. At this point, while still holding down your LMB, you can let go of Ctrl+Shift. Now you can still resize the rectangle or you can hold down the Spacebar to move it or hold down Alt to turn it red… When you let go of the LMB, anything that isn’t under the green mask will be hidden. If you used Alt to turn mask red then anything under the red mask will be hidden. To unhide anything you have hidden, you Ctrl+Shift +click on empty part of canvas.

Yes that’s annoying. Pressing all three buttons together seems to be anoter hotkey.

To do what you want you need to press alt AFTER your pressed the shift + ctrl AND the left mouse button. You can even let go of shift + ctrl while you’re still pressing the left mouse button.

I allways think to myself: “first wait for the green traffic light (green mask), than pressing alt”

Edit: ups, zber2 was faster!

If you’ve painted a mask you can hide the unmasked portion by pressing Tool>Visibility>Hide Pt. You can reverse the visibility by Shift+Ctrl+clicking on the visible portion.

ah, i got it now - let go of the ctrl+shift and then alt.
ok.
too bad they don’t have a “hide mask” button. maybe on ZB 4.5.

thanks everybody!

There is (or at least ‘hide unmasked’) - I told you about it.

yes, thank you.
