HELP! I cant mask or hide unmasked

For some reason when I hold control and drag a box nothing shows up masked. Also when I paint on a mask (painting it on is the only thing that wokrs) I cannot hide unmasked. I click the button and nothing happens. I am using the layer brush, intensity 100, rgb selected, z add, focal shift -100.

I have cleared the mask (this brings another weird thing) when i click clear and then click select all some weird parts are selected, when i click hide unmasked (show pt) button nothing happens. Any ideas?:qu:

i’ve always had some problems with the masks too, like i would have one tiny polygon masked and couldn’t see it, and it wouldn’t let me divide because of it and i didn’t know what was doing, but usually the clear mask button works for me and if that doesn’t work i usually save the tool and reopen zbrush and it starts clean.

got it working again, i dont know what it was. restarted the comp and it worked.

it was probably your rgb intensity. that also needs to have a value, and the value of the mask is equal to the value of the rgb slider.

I dont know whats going on but I have tried the following

Initializing z brush

Drawing out my tool again and going to edit mode

selecting the layer brush with 100 % intensity and rgb checked.

I cannot marquee select (drag a box) anything and after I clear the mask and try painting one on and click Hide Pt it does nothing.

Any ideas? :frowning: It is very frustrating because I am trying to make progress on something ASAP and I cannot focus on specific areas to detail. Help please!

I have tried loading a previous version of my sculpt with the same results :frowning:

I did find one thing that is good to know. It is only happening with this current sculpt not other old files. I opened an old file and it worked like a charm. So that means there is something wrong with this z tool. Any ideas?

First off when i click mask all only a small area that I slected before gets masked and even then nothing happens when i click hide pt.:qu:

So a co worker helped me a great deal today, he showed me a couple tricks using the lasso instead of painting your mask on. Definitely like this way more. I still have not figured out what is causing my tool to not allow hiding of points after i click show pt and clear mask and try and try again no luck. No marquee works either (box selection) but i will try his method and hopefully work around it.

I tried the other method of holding CTRL+Shift and laso selecting an area, when I do so it crashes Zbrush. I opened an older version of the model where masking and hiding unmasked worked and the lasso selection holding CTRL+Shift also worked. So now I have concluded it is something in my ztool. What could cause these symptoms? anyone know? Help would be appreciated

my masking is working fine, but under masking, there is not an option for hide unmasked…
im using 3.5R3… i tried extracting my mask in the sub-tools… but its hideous and very round… and my poly paint disappears.

where did they hide the hide unmasked? :qu:
