GIMP2.0.1 for Windows NOW with WACOM support!

Hi everyone!

Now my desktop really looks like my Linux partition! My favorite 2d graphics program has been fixed to use my favorite piece of hardware… the WACOM tablet!

if it crashes when trying to use tablet, make a shortcut of your EXE file and give it this switch in the target field AFTER the close quotes of the file location:

–ignore-wintab
the whole thing will look something like this :
“C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.0.exe” --ignore-wintab

The interface is top notch in my opinion… sometimes while waiting for big downloads in my Linux partition I would kill time, and run Linux wings 3d and GIMP 2.0… both fit on screen nicely…

anyways GIMP is by no means a Photo shop or paint shop pro replacement… It is pretty damed close tho!

be sure to get the helpfile, and the animation tools ,along with any plug ins you want while you are at the site…you will need both the installer and teh runtime enviornment to install gimp…

Be careful, there is some website selling 79$ versions… GIMP is one of the oldest programs in the GNU license program, there is a place to donate, but you don’t need to pay for it unless you want to…

Anyways there is the link

The interface is terrible. Browsing for files makes me want to rip my hair out. For free though, it’s a good program

Yea,

I don’t like the open and save dialogs…

It seems like people either really like the interface, or they really hate it…

I personally like most of it  I like how it can almost all be controlled by right mouse button… I like how te tools are set up for the most part… and I really like the filters 8) OH! and don’t forget the gradient tool! this is really cool
there is a plug in for the interface to be more like a windows application, everything docked in a window… it is also on the download page

here is a zbrush picture I made a while ago with some of the filters run on it

they have really cleaned up the tools… they have it down to just a few windows now…

Ta, Polaris

I gave up on Gimp before because it crashed as soon as I went near it with my Wacom pen.
Now it doesn’t :+1:

Alan

Didn’t see the Plugin on the DL page (No pluggins there in fact, or is it the Developers’ stuff?)

Hi angstrom ,

Look here for the animation package and the Help file:
http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/stable.html

and here are some plugins…
http://registry.gimp.org/index.jsp

Sorry about that, thought there was a link to plugins there…

The Gimp manual is quite complete…

But just in case here is another version…

Thanks, Polaris. I’m off to check out the links.
