Getting stuck in pan mode - SOLVED: ZBrush no like Wacom Touch Ring

When using my Wacom tablet sometimes I will suddenly be unable to rotate the model and I get stuck in pan mode. If I click off of ZBrush, on the desktop for instance, then I can rotate again, but then if I use the keyboard to pan or something then I can’t rotate again. There is a similar issue sometimes where the brush will get stuck on the mask pen.

I can only fix the glitch if I restart the computer. I have no idea what I’m touching to cause it.

This happens in ZBrush 4R8 and 2019. I’m using Mac OS 10.12.6, and a Wacom Intuos Pro Tablet PTH660.

Have you tried running a clean install of 10.12.6 ? I had read that users who upgraded to 10.12.6 rather than clean installed had run in to issues with Wacom drivers. Maybe loading and testing a clean installed OS on a external HD first will be less hassle? Or perhaps creating a new user account on your Mac to test the wacom with ZBrush?

My Wacom Driver Version is 6.3.27-2 for Mac and it works fine on my clean install of 10.12.6.
Maybe try reinstalling the latest driver or perhaps an older version such as the one I find is working for me?

Good luck I hope you solve your issue.

I finally figured it out. My hand was brushing over the touch ring on the tablet. ZBrush doesn’t seem to like the touch ring, so I disabled all the those functions and things seem to work now.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Good news - pleased to hear all is well again.
It had crossed my mind that this might be an issue particularly if you are reaching over your wacom to use keyboard shortcuts where the palm of your left hand brushes over the dial.
