I am just curious as to methods for creating fur. Working on a ZSphere model of my old dog that is half shitzu…needless to say the massive amount of fur on him is providing some difficulty.
Try the fiber brush. There’s also the greenthumb tutorial by aurick available from the zscripts download page on the pixologic site. That tutorial will help learn more about the fiber brush.
I find smuding an easy way to create the fur after the model has been rendered.
If you use the fibre brush , baking your image first and using the fibre brush afterwards often gives better results.
Thanks for the tips, i found the fibre brush didn’t provide the “light and fluffy” look i was looking for, but i’ll check out the tutorial and play around with smudge.
For fur, the best approach is definitely to bake the layer, use the Fiber Brush with the Flat Color material, and then use the Smudge Brush with various alphas to get a nice soft look.
The same approach can be used for hair and realistic fire.
Use what Aurick said and knock down the density and rgb of the fur.

Here is the lil picture I made with your tips. Probably should have spent more time on it, but I’ll keep playing around with the fiberbrush to get more acquainted with all its options.
