Formic - Ender's Game

Here is a personal concept I did of a drone of the first alien psecies encountered on the Ender Saga, by Orson Scott Card, which BTW is one of my very favorite book cycles ever. still trying to figure out how the queen looks like
Anyone knows how to edit the code to increase the size of the Vimeo player? would be pretty to have it pop more

This is NO final model whatsoever, I think all this was made with cubes meshed together, that’s the reason for some harsh separation lines, so please don’t fry me for that :).
It’s a concept I did over a weekend, mostly I wanted to see it MOVE!
BTW Viewport 2.0 Is awesome to cast quick and awesome hardware renders!!!

Gonna add later some other views I need to render them and process them properly!

ciao!

very cool

for the size of the vimeo video, you cant change it when it’s just a link, but you can when its an embed as you can change the size in the embed code

But what an absolutely awesome sculpt you have created

I am embedding it with the [vv ] tag
thank you  I think to appreciate it you kinda have to to hit play

yeah all you need to do then is change it in the embed

In the code you’ll see the dimensions of the video, just change them to your desired size and it’s done

I did press play as its such an awesome creature, I love bugs, they are fascinating creatures

I think this may be one of the best monsters I’ve ever seen, so unique, well-realized. Seriously… not an ounce of “come on” like you get in creature movies. I’d be quite terrified to see that alien pop up in a film, particularly moving that way. Terrific detailing on the head and hands.

Great job!

Hope to see it progress.

:+1: 5 stars.

Damn Man! very nice!!:+1:

Very nice job,
I like the silhouette a lot and the idea of the cardiac nodes on the back is very dynamic. The only thing I can say is that because you push the work so far now I missing some other movements on the area . Those can be open and close the breathing tubes and some movements on the chest and below the ribs. This will give more alive feeling to the creature and will help to sell better the excellent job you already have and the concept of the cardiac nodes I totally love. Just a couple of clusters will do the job.
Also I notice one of the legs at the end penetrates the ground.
To do even better job I will do some little animation form the gravity center up and down, because now has only rotation, some insects like mantis do this kind of movements before attack for measure better the distance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8HDJez6n-w
I also find this amazing video about spider movements and sounds may can give you more ideas.

Grate job!

Really well done, I’d love to see some color. Don’t really need the call outs though - kind of gets in the way of the images. Great work!

bows to your creature. that is awesome. nice animation too. like

amazing mate, love your attention to detail and the way it works together so well
