Hi everyone.
a character im doing for Uni thesis. thought i would share as im using ZB for all the detailing and texturing. base mesh’s are all done in Silo and Uv’s edited in maya. Still got a ways to go, will post more as i go along.
What? No stars yet?
mutters something incomprehensible
5 from me…
Cant wait to see the finished piece
This is beautiful great job so far, I like the arms
Wow, love the details you put on the armor…really nice indeed.
Looking good. He looks a bit buff for the standard elf but it is a very cool model.
One question… what is the polycount and the sdiv level on the model?
I am asking this because whenever i trying to make something as detailed as the breastplate on your elf i end up with a pixelated mess. Also when i add a certain amount of detail with PM (even on very high polycount models (1mil+))
it looks passable inside PM but when i pickup the figure i end up with the same kind of mess
Very cool ork… woops, i mean elf!=)
thanks everyone for your responses… much appreciated, and the stars
frags_ghost - the poly count on the base mesh of the breastplate is 828, but when i take it into maya i will most likely use subDiv level 1. and on subDiv level 7 it has over 3 mil poly’s, thats just for the breastplate. the face, and arms are still only on subDiv level 3, i havn’t gone in for micro detailing yet, with 4000 on subdiv level 1. try making the poly’s where you want high detail to be more compact on a lower subdiv level, that way when it subdiv’s the mesh is more dense where you want the detail.
thanks again! will have another update today!
just a small update… starting to bring the model into maya, and generate displacement maps, then to texturing. this is a ZB render.
really nice modeling.
starting to pose, and bring displacement into maya… some things are still being worked on… and still need to generate bump for certain armor parts, and arms, and legs with the finer details. but thought i would post this progress screen shot… im contemplating a shield?? but don’t know yet… all the materials are just blinns… except for the skirt and shin guards, which are recently imported from silo.
Beautiful work, it looks as if he’s tiptoeing. I love the face the armor and the way his right arm looks, but it’s all good :). Great great work
awesome work! it keeps getting better and better!
the vein might be a little too much i think…but other than that,
i love the nice fine detail on the armor, the anatomy is looking great!
very cool!

- nice model
Yeah great job man that is an amazing piece of work keep it up.
Thanks again guys…
working on the skin textures now… still needs some work on the hands i think… and there are no spec maps at the moment. still workin out the settings though.
Wow, that looks so nice, I wish I knew how to texture >_<.
I really love this model now. I just think it’s great when everything flows and there’s consistency with the design. This has become one of my favorite models
Keep it up and keep us posted
