Dynamesh keeps on welding together mesh??

Hello and thanks for your time.
I have a model - think of a jaw with teeth. The teeth close together but never touching or overlapping.
When I Dynamesh to organize the mesh, areas around individual teeth that are close to each other will fuse and connect.
How do I not let dynamesh do this? Is there a threshold or a cap of some kind?

make the teeth separate groups, then turn on “groups” right next to the dynamesh button. they will then be remeshed separately.

thanks, it partially works.
What the teeth dynamesh well without them merging into one another but now I get these harsh seems where the polygroups meet. I guess the makes sense but, I’d like to treat my model as one whole model instead of having seems at ever group juncture. Is there any way to alleviate this?
thanks again!

If I understand what you are saying (difficult without pictures), they are welding together because they are too close for the dynamesh resolution you have set. Increase it maybe?

Read first sentence >base mesh creation, then you move on>http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/creating-meshes/dynamesh/

I don’t meant to disagree with you, as it is indeed an excellent base mesh creation tool. However, I frequently use it on models at their final level of detail for things like separating into parts for 3D printing for example.

Good information from both!
In this project, I have used dynamesh for late stage sculpting. I imported an existing model that was all triangle polys and used dynamesh to convert it into quads successfully. from there I did my detail sculpting- like teeth that are lined up right beside each other. But now when I use dynamesh, some areas of the teeth just merge into each other and I have to separate the merge areas again.
Raising the resolution just gives me too many polys and a heavy file to work with and does not stop the merging:confused:??

Either poly groups with ‘groups’ on: seperate them do different layers, or dynamesh is not what you need.

what do you think I need to do then?
I would like to use Dynamesh on my sculpt still

Did you not see my answer? Eiterh have each tooth as a seperate poly group, or seperate subtool
