Dragon skin . dragon scales .Help.

Hi .

I am working on very detailed dragon in Zbrush2 , i have created all body and head and legs , but i dont know how to create realistic Dragon skin (dragon scales ) . Maybe somebody have got any idea , but I also want to save muscle structure so this scales must be a gentle , but also looks like some hard material .

Hi.

Thanks. But this is example on parametric object , but i have 3dmodel sculpted , i dont know how to do this on sculpted model ?
So i assume that on sculpted model this will not work?
And I need very precise placement .

Something like Mahlikus The Black done in the post you pointed http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=3815&highlight=dragon page 3 .

Regards.

I think MTB did it the way pigma pointed out, and threw his own spin on it to get a result like that.

Another thing you may want to look at is actually getting some detailed photos of reptile skin (or attempt to create reptile skin in 2.5d in zbrush), and make alpha brushes from them. Bay Raitt, at the Pixologic user group meeting, expressed how important it was to start to build a custom alpha brush collection for sculpting surface textures in zbrush quickly and easily with fantastic results using Projection Master.

personally, I think a combination of pigma’s technique and using alpha brushes in projection master would give you beautiful results.

Hi looki666,

I created those alphas in photoshop and used them on a dinosaur model in projection master.

the result was sweet, hope it’ll work for you
keep it real!
