Different coloured parts of mesh?

Thanks for the help so far.

Um what does this mean?Is this some mesh error i might’ve made when i created the base in maya? Or is it some sorta stretching error?

at first glance it looks like you might have some verts that are not welded.

The different colors are simply different polygroups. They don’t actually mean anything unless you want them to. Among other things, they are a handy way to quickly isolate parts of the model.

You can reassign polygroups by doing the following:

  1. Hide anything that you don’t want to be a part of the polygroup.
  2. Press Tool>Polygroups>Group Visible
If the whole mesh is visible when you do that, the whole mesh will be assigned to a single group, and will be the same color.

There’s also an option in the Preferences palette that lets you turn off the coloring of the polygroups while still leaving the wireframe visible. So you have choices.

Cool, its all one polygroup now. But apparently my mesh got screwed up some how at some stage before causing the different polygoups.

In this case, could this be solved by simply retopologizing later on? weird_mesh.jpg
