Deleting or erasing part of an object

If you import an obj (like a head), but only want to use the ears, how would you delete everything but the ears?

You hide the parts you want to delete, then press Tool:Geometry: DelHidden. You have to do it at the lowest subdivision level.

I’m also looking for a way to bring in obj files that are made up of separate obj files so that when brought in their coordinates match the original creating 3d apps coordinates (positioning).

In other words, if you have an obj of a man holding an obj of a guitar from Lightwave and you don’t want to have to reposition anything in zbrush, how would this be done? Multi markers possibly?

The way you do this will depend on the export options for the app you’re using. In ZBrush you will need the different objects to be different groups or different subtools. See here for how groups work in ZBrush (there’s a link to subtool info at the bottom of the page):
