Define Seams in UVMaster

I just watched the UVmaster tutorial in ZClassroom. It’s a really great time-saver, truely one of the masterpiece in unwrapping tools. However, I found that I can’t manually define seam manually just as the tutorial said. I can only “guide” UVMaster, hopefully it do the thing I expected.

For example, in the Attachment1 I want my model to have seperate pieces for the limbs, so I tried to Attract the end of the limbs. However, UVMaster won’t break them for me, instead just treat them as whole and unwrap them in a gaint uv map. This waste a lot space in the map and is not favorable.

I thought it can achieved by painting polygroups. But for unknown reason when I pressed the Group Visible in Polygroup panel. Nothing show up!

Any help is greatly apperciated.

Have you read the documentation that is included with UV Master? It specifically states that UV Master does not allow you to define seams. You can only guide them. If you want something to let you define seams more specifically you would need one of the full-fledged UV editors that’s out there. In that case, though, you can still use that to just define the seams and then bring the model back to ZBrush to have UV Master do the unwrap. This will use the defined seams, but has the advantage of UV Master’s superior unwrap algorithms.

Overjoyed by the power of UVMaster I forgot it come with a pdf manual! Sorry for posting a stupid question that has already been mentioned in the pdf manual. :frowning:

However, I did use the polygroup’s method to define seam, it is do-able but I just don’t know how to deal with polygroups. I can’t see a visual polygroup pattern in the ZTools when I pressed “Polygroups” --> “Group visible”, either polyframe on or off.
In 3.1 I remembered it has this function which stay near the polyframe button.

Maybe I just need to know how to “guide” UVmaster by trial and error.

Edited: Found out the problem. It is because I haven’t colorize polypaint before turn on Group visible! Stupid me!

You need to make sure that you are viewing the poly flow. I think its Shift F, or Ctrl F. that shows you the poly groups.

I assume you know you to show/hide parts of your model. Just hide everythign except what you want to group, then hit ‘group visible’ and it will do it. when the ‘poly frame’ (can remember what its called ) visibiliyt is on, each polygroup shows up as a different colour.
