DAZ models & Poser Figures

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb new boy question but Zbrush, I thought automatically reads the UVs of an imported model…I’ve imported a figure and started texturing in projection master but when I pick up again the texture is all over the place, I can’t see an option for using the existing UVs…anybody have any ideas where I’m going wrong?

thanks

Brian

It does use them…not sure about Daz but Poser’s Uv’s suck…they overlap and this is the cause of your dismay.

I would take em into uvmapper or something similar and re-uv it or re-uv it in zbrush using guvtiles. You will have to do this if you plan on creating displacements because Zbrush hates overlapping uv’s!

The other problem is that the UV/Texture is flipped vertically_ so you have to perform this action on import and export.
The multiple maps thing is an issue which you can solve the way aminuts suggests or you can deselect the parts that are mapped seperately (the head in Poser human figures is mapped seperately from the body) and do the texturing as two seperate maps (the only snag is you can work on the seams that way).

Any time you have a model that uses multiple texture maps, what you paint on one part of the model will also appear on the other parts because ZBrush only allows one map per model. This subject is covered in the texturing part of the FAQ here at ZBC.

Thanks everyone, makes more sense now, i’ll have a read in the faq too though.
