Curve Tube Snap brush gives a Flat plane

When I use the Curve tube Snap brush I get a flat plane following the curve. The Curve tube brush gives me a cylinder.

I tried reseting all brushes. It did not help.

Using Zbrush 4r4 P2. Windows 7

Anyone got an idea? I tried comparing it to the Tube curve brush but I didn’t see any differences in the settings that gave me a tube shape.

Well after playing a bit longer (I DID try for quite a while before I posted the question…) I noticed my intensity was set to 6 giving me a flat plane. I put it to one hundred and got a tube.

But whenever I start Zbrush it resets the brush intensity to 6 (only on the Curve Tube Snap brush).

I tried to save the config while the brush intensity was set to one hundred, but that didn’t work. Is there a way to store the brush setting in the start up?

I am little hesitant to just guess how to save a brush in case I mess it up.

Especially since reseting brushes to their original settings didn’t work in this case.

As long as you load the default ‘CurveTubeSnap’ brush and change the ‘Z Intensity’ only, you can confidently re-save the brush. Pay close attention to the directory path in step 3.

  1. Draw something on the canvas, turn on Edit and select your ‘CurveTubeSnap’ brush.
  2. Change Z Intensity to 100.
  3. Go to Brush palette and click ‘Save As’ and navigate to ‘ZBrush 4R4/ZData/BrushPresets’ and click on ‘CurveTubeSnap.ZBP’ and overwrite that file.

Now it will be at 100 Z Intensity everytime you select that brush.

Thanks zber2!

Not sure how I changed it in the first place. But at least now I know how to fix it.

I think it ships that way because mine was at 6 Z Intensity also. I changed mine to a 100 and saved the brush too.

A word of warning though, if you are going to customize any of your brushes, do not overwrite the ones in the ZData directory. If you customize a brush, create your own folder in ‘ZBrush 4R4/ZBrushes’ folder and save them in there with a different name.

Thanks for the tips.
