Controlling AO calculation for texture map export

Hi!
Still getting my Zbrush chops here. I’m pretty familiar with the steps needed to export an AO texture map from one of my subtools. My question is whether I have control over what the AO calculation will take into account. Does it only run on the selected visible subtool (assuming I have multiple subtools on my model, for different parts)? Does it take into account the adjacent subtools at all? Do they have to be visible in the viewport for this?

I didn’t find documentation on this aspect, so I’m asking the experts! Thanks for your help.

MME currently uses the same masking AO found in the Masking Palette. It does not take other subtools into account.
