Cloth wrinkles and folds

Right, well, I am mid production on a little indie game me and friends are making based on Irish legend. I am new to zbrush so alot of the tools, brushes etc are a bit confusing to me. But I have been trying to sculpt in some wrinkles and folds into my cloth but I cant seem to get them the way I want I have tried using many brushes together but the result is always unsatisfactory. So if at all possible could someone point me in the direction of a tutorial or just tell what they use to create wrinkles.

P.S. Before someone says it I did search for other relating posts, while there was some, my questions were not really answered, so apologies for creating yet another one of these posts

I find that the Gravity option with the Std brush is great for getting a realistic fall to fabric folds. I use a simple alpha like the ‘Brush 01’. Switching between ZAdd & ZSub using the Alt key is very useful - with occasional use of Shift for Smooth.

For pinching folds together the Tweak brush is great but use with care!

That’s basically the method I used here:

Great thanks alot marcus, never even knew about that option (great models btw). Should come in handy, anyone use the pinch brush or is it tweak they use to get the tightness in the edges of wrinkles?

try using masks and dragging folds over with the tweak brush

.

crazy work in that thread marcus. insane

Thanks guys.

subedei,

The pinch brush is a good choice for sharpening the edges, I should have mentioned it.

cheers for the hand lads, tried using the pinch but it wasnt enough to get, hopefully with the gravity and tweak twill be better. As for masks I know how to get them but if I do it cuts of x symmetry, anyway of keeping symmetry in the unmasked side? or is there a way of adding and taking bits out of a mask?

This thread is a bit old, but not out of date, because it helps me still today.

So, this is a good way to make wrinkles, but somehow i didn’t get them filled. Everytime the wrinkels are very flat, straight downwards. Which other settings are relevant? Also this way stretches the polygons, so there isn’t any possibility to add further details on them.
Is there another method to make wrinkles and folds?

Especially i am interested in wrinkels in the face, under the eyes.

Here is a video about folds, surely also usable for wrinkels. But i didn’t get it. He uses the standard and the clay tube brush, nothing more. What is the magic to get it look like his result. What, besides years of practice?
