Clone Stamp

Hi there,

Is there any sort of tool similar to Photoshop’s Clone Stamp tool in ZB2? The thinking is to import some textured models via .obj, and paint over nasty texture seams by clone stamping adjacent areas of the texture (it needs to be subtle so I need control over opacity, feathering of the brush/alpha). Then I can simply export as .obj back into the 3d package.

Is this possible? Sorry if it’s a dumb question but I have little to zero knowledge of ZB.

TIA, :¬)

Under the Tool menu is the ClonerBrush which works very much like Photoshop’s Clone Stamp tool, and provides lots more options.

If you intend to edit a model’s texture with ClonerBrush, first enter Projection Master, then choose the TOOL:ClonerBrush. You should also experiment with the CloneBrush modifiers beneath the Tools thumbnails:

Layers Mode
Shaded
RetainCenter
Zoffset

Control + leftclick to set the copy point, then reposition the cursor for “offset interval” and leftclick again.

The RGB Intensity slider lets you control the opacity of the stroke.

If your seams are not right at the edges of your map an alternative method is to do the cloning in Photoshop using ZBrush to view the applied texture on the model. Every time you save in PS the ZB view is updated and you can rotate the model in ZB to check your work. This might be quicker if you are new to ZB. Choose Tools>Import to import the obj; Texture>Import to import the map; with the texture map selected draw the model on the canvas and hit the ‘R’ key to rotate. Be aware that ZB may flip the texture.
