Cintiq or intuos

Hi i would like to create a hard surface character,my question is,is it better with a cintiq or with intuos.a cintiq cost 4,000,is it ok if i model with intuos or i have no choice and i have to buy an cintiq.

Cintiq is always better but not sure what currency is 4000 as none of them cost 4.000$. You dont need to go to the most expensive cintiq anyway.

And if you are short of money an intuos is OK. Mouse is not an option.

Personally, I work on Cintiqs, but most of my students start out on modest-sized Intous tablets and do just fine. For many years (before the smaller Cintiq’s were available) I carried a small Intous tablet with my laptop. If you’re new to Zbrush and digital sculpting, I recommend starting out on medium sized Intous (such the Intous Pro with an active area around 224 x 140 mm). Because Zbrush is very dependent on the pen-drivers, I generally recommend Wacom for a trouble-free experience.

Intus pro medium is the logical entry level, but it is not cheap, 350$
If you are really serious about it I would go to at least the 22 inch cintiq 1800$, and avoid buying first the Intuos and then the cintiq when you notice that you need more (as I did). It will last lots of years and it is a good investment.

The experience of the cintiq compared with the intuos is more natural, even both can do equally good work

Having used a Wacom Bamboo and then an Intuos before getting a Cintiq 22, for me there is a world of difference using a Cintiq. Working directly on screen is probably the holy grail, although not cheap. I think there are now very viable Cintiq competitors from other manufacturers worth considering, at well under half the price.

Wacom is not perfect from point of view of pen emulation, but any other company that I have checked is worse and that becomes frustrating. One typical problem of other companies is that with Wacom the slightly touch of the pen in the surface translate to a mark, when in other companies you need to do some pressure. This means that if you try to use the pen as a real pen sometimes doesn’t do any effect and that is confusing, a problem that Wacom products doesn’t have but from I know all tablets have (and I think that includes surface 4).

Note that ZBrush system requirements specify Wacom or Wacom compatible:

I think some of the cheapos already are Marcus. For instance, I had the Yiynova DP10 (1366x768 version) and it worked fine with ZBrush. I mean REALLY well. The screen size was just too small for my hands and I passed it on to someone else. One of my friends has a Yiynova MSP19U+ which is incredibly thin and light compared to my Cintiq 22HD. It is possible to have the MSP19U+ on ones lap while working, which just isn’t possible with a 22HD. The MSP19U+ works perfectly with ZBrush, no lag, jitter or other problems.
The only issues with those Yiynovas based on my experience with the DP10 and my friends MSP19U+ is that the drivers rarely work right out of the box, which means having to find updated ones on the makers web sites. I can never understand why people in China can plan missions to Mars but can’t get drivers right first time.

I think some of the Huions have (or did have) issues with ZBrush. Some reviews showed erratic brush strokes when sculpting, which surely would make it unuseable.
