I have R12 of Cinema 4d, how do I open models from it in Zbrush?
You can use GoZ to send models between Cinema 4D and ZBrush. You will probably need to set up GoZ. There are specific steps for Cinema 4D which you can read about here:
http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/zbrush-other-programs/goz/
Alternatively, you can export/import models in OBJ format between the two applications.
but where exactly is the import/export option for if i want to import a model to paint on? the UI is confusing as all hell… im used to those things being under “file” and they are not.
I did the script thing for cinema 4d, but when i click on the GoZ icon it opens zbrush but my model does NOT get put into it for me to paint on or anything, there is also no option to save my c4d file, or export it as a .goz format.
Do you have ZBrush 4R6 P2?
See post #2 by marcus_civis about exporting as an .obj file.
As for the other ‘gripe’, read this old thread>> http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?9095-NEWBIE-LESSON-ONE-The-Interface

Can you show a screenshot of your ZBrush interface at this point? That will help me to see what’s happening.
Thanks,
import, export, save are all in the “tool” palette. that is either docked on the side of the screen or up top labeled “tool”.
import/export handles obj files. save saves the model as a ztool.
