Chinese/Japanese calligraphy brush

Wheehee! finally actually used my little Graphire tablet

Shape of Alpha brush is shown in lower right corner (to simulate bristles) – based on Brush 06 with little strokes added around the edge

In Tablet palette, I set X and Y sizes to 1 to allow maximum variance of stroke thickness

Using SimpleBrush, Freehand Stroke, RGB Intensity set to 100 (could be reduced for a more watery stroke), ZAdd off, DrawSize about 36 (represents max stroke width because of X and Y settings in the Tablet palette)

Hmm, I wonder if there is a way to simulate impasto or palette-knife painting on the fly … :qu:

I almost missed this H! A great use of the Alpha, and if you turn on ZAdd, design a brush, and select the right material, painting with MRGBZ selected, I think you’ll find you can do Impasto…Try playing with the new ‘Paintbrush’ tool…

:sunglasses: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :sunglasses:

looking good, very good, havran! i am still swimming with socks on (© Glen), but thats another reason to get that tablet plugged. ah, i seem to have amnesia-ed all my lessons: what do the letters say?

This is a very cool!

hahah, juandel, i was just scribbling – i’m sure my brushwork would make cats spit!

stonecutter, i’m thinking that a round or even slanted-oval brush with tiny dots around but not touching the edge might be even better

as for the impasto/palette knife, thanks for the tips, i will post any good results … am thinking that i will assume all strokes will be in approx the same direction and design brushes/knives accordingly, with one plain edge and one ragged or bristly edge …

btw, that nice ink-bleed around the stroke edges is just a jpeg artifact, nothing i planned
