Checking in a license

I have a main PC that I do most of my work on and my laptop that I use to take my work to show my clients. With the ability to check in and out your license, can I have a single license of Zbrush on both machines and have the license apply to whichever one I am currently using? It sounds like that from the information on the wiki:

4.1.3 Check-in a license

To check in (or deactivate) a license go to the Zplugin: License sub-palette and press Check in License. ZBrush will then be deactivated and your activation will be returned to the license server to be used on another machine.

Does anybody know how this works? I’m ready to buy Z3, but I can’t afford two licenses and I’m not sure which machine I’d need to put it on.

If this works I’ll be the happiest guy on the planet.

Reading that same page in the wiki also reveals this:

Online activation allows you to take ZBrush with you from office to job site and back. Your ZBrush license is valid for two installations: work and home. However, if you need to move one of those installations to another computer simply follow the steps below:

So I think I’m answering my own question. One license and two installs.

That just rocks.

Yes you get 2 activations for your license. You can install on multiple machines, and check in (Deactivate) any machines you are not currently using. Then just Activate again on the machine your are going to be using. This will only work if you use Online Activation to activate your license.

That is absolutely amazing. As if I needed any other reasons to re-fall in love with Zbrush.

I was just wondering about this myself as I’m thinking about getting a second machine. My question though is this- what if I don’t use internet activation, and don’t actually have regular net access? Does that mean I wouldn’t be able to use the 2nd install? Or am reading that incorrectly?

A license can only be checked back in if it has been activated online. If it’s activated by phone or email, there is no way to check it back in again, even if the computer is now connected to the internet.

In such a situation, please contact [email protected] after uninstalling ZBrush from the system. The team can override things at our end so that it’s as if the copy had never been installed.

I deactivated and then uninstalled zbrush in my home laptop. Then i reinstalled it. I did that because i thought there was a problem with some plugins i had installed and i wanted to have a clear installation. Now, when i start up zbrush a zactivator message appears that prompts to activate by phone because of a problem with my activation license key.
Please help…

When you reinstall ZBrush without reinstalling Windows it causes an error in the license and requires you to recover the license before you can reactivate. ZBrush is also giving you a message with an authorization request code. Please call the phone number provided during business hours or email [email protected]. Include your Cleverbridge reference number, and also the request code from ZBrush. You’ll be back up in no time.

Thank you aurick, everything is fine now.
What if i didn’t deactivated and i’d just uninstall and then reinstall zbrush?
Should everything had worked fine then?

Hello Aurick
I have one mac license and I’ve couldn’t succeed
on doing the activation on my computer’s work.
Most of the buttons were greyed-out so I deactivated it.
Now when I open zbrush it asks for another activation code.
How can I proceed? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Please contact [email protected] for license-related questions. The longer this thread continues, the more it is becoming a catch-all for license questions and the less helpful it becomes. Now we’re getting both PC and Mac questions in here.

There are many possible situations, and these need to be handled on a case-by-case situation in order to avoid confusion.

So please contact support for any of these kinds of questions.

Thanks.
