Change in functionality of Transpose Line Alt key compared to ZBrush 2021?

Hi there, having some trouble with the transpose line after upgrading to 2022 from 2021:

In 2021 holding down the alt key and clicking and dragging the inner red circle of the line’s outer node bent the mesh smoothly past the line; for some reason, in 2022 when I attempt the same action what happens instead is the mesh is skewed in opposite directions on either side of the action line, and simply rotated beyond the action line.

I’ve attached screenshots of the same action performed in ZBrush 2022 and 2021 on the DemoSoldier’s arm with Alt+Leftclick and drag on the inner circle of the outer node of the action line, with the intended effect of smoothly flexing the wrist up towards the forearm.

I’m also having the issue in 2022 of Alt+LeftMouse and drag on the inner circle of the middle node on the action line not behaving any differently than just left clicking in dragging; That is, the entire mesh is simply rotated about the axis instead of being twisted about the middle node as it was in 2021.

Are the differences I’m seeing here the result of an intended change between 2021 and 2022, or are they the result of me missing a setting somewhere as I upgraded, or even having a bad install?

Thanks!

Zbrush 2022 added Focal Shift functionality to the Gizmo/Transpose line. So now, by default, when the Gizmo is activated the Focal Shift is set to -100, and this gives the normal action. Increasing Focal Shift results in increasingly localized action to move/scale/rotate. See this playlist from Michael Pavlovich on Zbrush 2022 What’s New!. Focal shift is #15.

Don’t know if this is the cause of the issue you’re seeing because I couldn’t repeat the strangle pinching you’re seeing in 2022 near the top of the arm. Behaviour for me was pretty much the same in 2021/2022 as long as I had the focal shift set to -100 in 2022.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

This is a result of the soft transformation capability being added to the Transpose Brush. The amount of falloff is controlled by the Focal Shift slider. By default this value is -100 in order to affect the mesh entirely as in the program previously. Values greater than this will only partially transform the mesh.

The Focal Shift value for the Transpose brush is shared by both the Gizmo Manipulator and the Action Lines. In order to affect a soft transformation with either, you must set the Focal Shift value to a value greater than -100. You can snap the Focal Shift slider to -100, 0, or 100 increments by holding down Shift while adjusting the slider.

:slightly_smiling_face:

Got it, thanks very much!
