bpr shadow on floor - how to?

i see many bpr renders where the model casts a shadow aceoss the floor - how is that set up in lighting or light cap?

Just turn on the Floor grid, in the Draw palette or on the right of the interface.

The problem was doing bpr from palette at top of screen instead of the little icon at top of draw menu on right of screen. did not realize there was a difference (???)

There’s no difference but perhaps you were pressing the ‘Best’ render button rather than the BPR button (which, for the Render palette, is in the BPR Render Pass sub-palette). The Best render is a legacy renderer which is used for 2.5D and some material effects whereas the BPR renderer is only for 3D models in Edit mode.
