Hi,
This is my first zbrush model. I’ve been making it as I learn the program.
One thing I’d like to change but I’m not sure how to is the length of the tail, its a bit long.
I’d really like to hear what people think
Thanks
Ben

Hi nice rino if thats your first model in zbrush your gonna go far…
2 things that could improve your image.
http://www.sebastienchartier.com/Leathery_Skin_1.zip
Its 2 alpha image to use for your bump
Maybe a bit more space for the forehead where is the red arrow

Keep posting i hope youll find this useful!!
Hey escareno thanks , those alphas look useful, I’ve been having difficulty finding good ones to use.
My rhino is modelled after a black rhino, but the picture you posted I think is a white rhino - maybe thats the reason for the forehead difference?
Here is one of the reference images I used. Looking at this image again I think my rhino’s head is a little bit too small…

Hope youl find the alpha useful just be shure to turn up the feather of your alpha or helse tour gonna have hard edge on your details.
Man that is a great model
keep it up
hey nice model so far. the only big thing that stands out which is a problem is the length of his legs. as you can see from the photos they are a tad shorter. keep going with the good work
Great model so far! I also immediately noticed that the length of the legs seems out of proportion, but on second thaught, after reading your reactions, I think that enlarging the head could possibly solve the leg problem. Also, the forehead is not too short, but it´s sloping too straight. It should have more of a parabolic shape, which you can see from your own reference picture.
´
You know what, I´m also completely new to ZBrush, and have no experience with 3D-modeling. My only experience with 3D is with Vue 5, but that´s an entirely different story. I am also trying to model a rhino, but so far without any succes. Could you upload the ZSphere version of your model? That would be really helpful… Thanx
oh and by the way, judging from your reference picture, I wouldn´t say that the tail is too long…
Thanks for the comments, they are very useful.
I agree about the leg and head proportions and the forehead shape, I’ll try adjusting these.
I didn’t use zspheres I created a base mesh in XSI - I wish I’d spent a bit more time on it - I could have fixed the portions then! I was just impatient and excited about getting into zbrush
Next time I will try making a much lower poly base mesh, I think I made it unnecessarily dense.
Great job man. Funny cause my bud at school is working on a rhino too. I recognized that smae reference photo on the beach. I’l have to show this to him. Nice work.
yeah im working on a rhino too! nice work man, keep it up, i want to see it when its done. Do you think that the head is a bit onthe small side?
