thanks for responding. That works well. But shouldn’t the shaded bpd channel produce the image i see?
In 4r4 it was so. Now something is different. It’s not the same behavior any more in 4r5.
Works as expected here. Set your document color first, though that may not be necessary or better.

To export a render exactly as you see it use Document>Export.
The Render>BPR RenderPass menu is designed for those who wish to composite render passes in other software such as Photoshop. That’s why the ‘Shaded’ pass has a black background. The edge of the model in that pass doesn’t have anti-aliasing, so that the background colour doesn’t affect the result. You would use the ‘Mask’ pass to isolate the model and composite the background of your choice.

Yes, that’s right. If you want the background color/gradient included in your render then the image saved using Document>Export gives you the best quality.
