Okay, so I have a model in ZBrush, a .ZTL that I want to give UVs and import into Source Filmmaker and pose, I’d like to make a poster, the thing is that I have no idea how to do this. It’s really messin’ with me, I feel like I’m never goin’ to get my sculpts posed or animated, I have a very low budget and SFM is 100% free so I jumped for it. If someone could walk me through the steps to make a model for SFM, I’d be eternally grateful. Thanks y’all.
Good question. I myself have not used Source Film Maker; however, I am familiar with modeling and UV for Half-Life 2 and Garry’s Mod as well as using Source SDK. Are you asking how to create a rig that can be used in source? Unfortunately, I’m not sure if zBrush has a plugin which would allow you to export your model, UV, and weight map, let alone convert a zSphere rig + weight map into a model. The tool you would use in that case is either XSI/Softimage Mod tool or 3Ds Max with the source engine plugin. I do know there’s a tool available that converts a plane model (.OBJ) to a source engine model (.VTF/.VMF). A good forum to check out with more people knowledgeable in this field would be http://facepunch.com or even the specific subforum dedicated to all things related to Source FilmMaker http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=412I’ve been a member on that site since 2005 when Garry’s mod first started and I can guarantee you’ll find the answers you seek there.
Dude, you are awesome! Thank you so much for the reply! I’ll check out the URLs you gave me, to be able to pose an original ZBrush sculpt in Source Filmmaker would be completely badass. Thanks again man, I was getting to the point where I didn’t think anyone would (or could) help me out.
