Answered: Saving a BPR, why am i struggling so much!!!! Help!!!

I am fairly new to Zbrush and I have come across a mystery that has preplexed me for hours, I have googled it, youtubed it, forumed it, and I just can’t find the response. Here is the scenario.

1- I click BPR
2- I look at the image and think… wow, great render.
3- I want to save said image…how, what do I click?

I’ve watched loads of tutorials with people talking about rendering multiple passes, but what If i’m happy with the BPR image and don’t wish to place on another background etc, how do I just save it?

Do I really have to screenshot it just to keep the render, surely not?

Help you Zbrush Genius’s

Document >> Export will export the render as-is.

If you did want to do any render passes you would go to the Render >> BPR RenderPass sub-palette. Clicking on any of the pass thumbnails opens a save dialogue for that pass.

Hey guys thats great, thanks for the responses, that cleared up a few questions, one other problem I have is that the render does not stay on screen. Say i render the image, wait ages for the render to finish, The render will not stay on screen for me to use filters etc, if I move my mouse over the render window, without even moving the model, it reverts back to the model view. (I hope that makes sense)

is there a way to keep the BPR render on screen until you decide to change it,

The BPR render will disappear if you click on the document window, or move the model. Simply moving the cursor over the area shouldn’t have any effect - so long as you don’t click. The best way to work is to move the Render palette to the right or left tray. That way you can open the sub-palettes and adjust the settings more easily.

Good idea, i’ll do that, thanks for your help, i’m doing these suggestions as I type, so as Im here in front of my computer, more questions crop up. The next one for you helpful lot is… If I want to use a background image, and I don’t want it to wrap around a sphere, how do I do this. So i just want to place a regular jpg as my background in the scene.

You can do it like this:

  1. In the Light palette, open the Background sub-palette and click Create. This creates a new background which is necessary for the next steps. It doesn’t matter what color it is.
  2. Turn off the Light>Background>Rotate With Object switch.
  3. Now make sure your model is NOT on the canvas - turn off Edit (press T on the keyboard) and clear the canvas (Ctrl+N).
  4. In the Texture palette, press Import and select the image you want to use.
  5. In the Texture palette, select the image you have just imported so that it appears in the large Current Texture thumbnail.
  6. Press the Texture>Image Plane>Load Image button. This will place your image on the canvas.
  7. Move mode will be on - switch to Draw mode.
  8. In the Transform palette, press the Snapshot button (the camera icon) or press Shift+S on the keyboard. This snapshots the image to the background created at (1) and means that it will still show during a BPR.
  9. Clear the canvas (Ctrl+N).
  10. Select your model in the Tool palette, and draw it on the canvas. Turn on Edit mode and position how you want. You may also need to change the selected material.
  11. Do a BPR.

HTH,

Thanks to all of you for your replies, i’m so grateful for each response, i’ll post the image once completed, for those who were curious.
