nice start, I really get the pacino vibe from the front view, but I lose it at the different angles. I think you could probably improve it drastically by tweaking a few the major proportions of the head. the top half of the head (above the eyes) seems the most off.
Can’t wait to see this finished
i can slightly see pacino…but, i think, right now, he’s looking more like ben kingsley
update, i tweaked the model some more worked on the textures a bit more.
posed him now to start working on hair .
I see it and I don’t. I think the eyes or maybe the facial features in general are all a bit off with the over-all head itself. Maybe make the top of his head a bit smaller and sharpen the bridge of the nose a bit. If someone asked me who it was though i would definately say Pacino. Over-all though I think the sculpt and color work is phenomonal. Here is a great shot i found of him that seems similar to your sculpt, hope it can help!

… i think that the side edges of his lower jaw are much more “jagged”. And he has a very characteristic triangle shaped wrinkle thing inbetween eyes and jaw, that one i am missing too. Aside from that … i whish i could do that.
Go on, make it happen!
Cheers

His face isn’t close to wide enough. Especially the upper parts. The eyes look like they’ve sunk too far into his head. You should try to neutralize the transition between cheekbone and eyes a bit. They look too large too.
The first thing I see is that his head is not wide enough. Most people’s head when shaved come out right above the ears. Mr. Pacino’s nose is also tapering into a slightly bulbous nose. Yours seems to have the same width all the way down. I think you’ve got the eyes close but his face needs to be a bit fuller. I noticed that you also have the labial muscles rounding from the cheek bone whereas his do not. The come almost 90 degrees straight down and give him this stark line that’s moving from right outside of his eye’s pupil down to his chin. If you brought these out it would give his face a more full look. You’ve also got too much of a gap between the corners of his mouth and the labial fold. Pull the folds in and the corners of his mouth just a hair to close that gap and you’ll be right. Al also has more visible upper eyelids than yours, bring those down to give him his sleepy eyes and the bags under his eyes need to be inflated just a hair to age him a bit more. The upper arch of the ocular orbit also needs to be moved more towards the center of the eye rather than towards the bridge of the nose as you have it. Bring the height of the head down just a hair also… not too much. I think that’s also what’s throwing the proportions out is that you have this thin face with an elongated skull. It will also help to add fullness to his face even with small touch ups as suggested.
Overall this is great work. If I didn’t know you were going after Al Pacino I would think it was a great piece with some stylization (not a bad thing at all). I’m really looking forward to updates and seeing how this comes along.
thanks kyphur for your comments ill deff add the changes and post soon.
I agree with everything Kypher said. I think this is an amazing sculpt over-all. Human anatomy is always a tough thing, but doing portraits is a whole different ball game and I give you a lot of credit for tackling Pacino. Keep at it man, there are a few WIP’s I look forward to checking every night and I must say yours is one of them!
