Spectacular !
Grub! Nice to see you posting again. Excellent work as usual.
Pure excellence! Amazing likeness!
Good to see you posting again Rob and back with a big bang!
Best regards,
Michael
Hope you’re having a good week-end, peeps. You’ve made mine. Looking forward to posting on your art some time soon. Here’s another round of replies for you…
Winged One
Thanks a lot. I’m taking a breather right now, before I go back to the texturing. It’ll probably take me a while before I finish.
DLee
Hi D, hope you’re not too breathless… It’s lucky for you I didn’t show his body.
DM
Hey there DM, thanks very much for your words. Seeing your work has inspired me much in the past.
robotalk
Hello Robo, I’m glad you decided to pop in.
Rafael Hernandez
Nice to see you too, Rafael.
PusGhetty
Thanks, Pus, appreciate that.
I’ve been playing around with the lighting, just thought I’d show you an image, see what ya think compared to the earlier one…
Bravo man! Looks amazing!!!
Heya Grubomatic!! I’ve been following along on this at CGT. I like the last pic the best by far. His skin is still a little shiny but I know you aren’t finished with all the maps yet. Please continue to enlighten us O’ great and powerful Oz!
Great work Grub!! Wauuu !!!
Hi Grub
That’s better
Hairs seems more natural
Maybe more eyelashes(on low) This man is brawn so his hair system must be thickful !)
He has now a little coquettish look
Sure he projects a new conquest
This guy gives a riveting performance !
Pilou
wow, I am totally impressed this really looks like him! Well done indeed!
~Pant~ ~G~ That last pic is pure perfection as far as I can see. Hard to believe we have the same tools yet you can make something like that, where I get goo ~L~ Keep posting.
Mahlikus
Thanks again Mahlikus.
Mentat7
Heya M7, glad to see ya. Thanks for your crit- you are right, the skin is a bit too shiny- or maybe sweaty. I’ll sort that out when I paint a decent specular map.
MrBraun
Cheers, Mr B!
Frenchy Pilou
Haha, Pilou- merci beaucoup pour le critique de Monsieur Bond…
I will work on the eyelids (I’ll be modelling some lashes) and thicken up the hair as you suggest, then he’ll have 'em swooning.
Northstarr
Hiya, thanks very much.
DLee
I’ll gladly keep posting for you Ms Lee, I’ll have another Z-texture update soon. I didn’t use ZBrush modelling tools this time (although I could’ve), because I needed to build him in Lightwave to expand my skill-set.
Catch you later…
absolutely supreme job, Grub! kudoskudoskudos!!! please imagine each and every positive superlative here —>
- juandel
Wow, really photo-realistic turn out Grub. Much better warmth on the skin and an accurate tone, I think. Excellent detail with a soft touch,
Better hair as well on the ends of the strands. If I have to nitpick, I’d say he’s missing a few lashes on his bottom eye lids but only because you’ve so improved the rest.
PS Don’t think you could’ve perfected his face structure anymore. I think there’s some obsessive attention to co-ordination there, you could have as well used a scanner.
Amazing likeness, the hair and skin are both better. How many polys was this?
David
wow grub, he is amazing. you really catched connery´s charme. in particular his eyes… only to me, his hair still looks unnatural. its better than in the first image, but still the strands look like copies. looking forward to an update.
juandel
Hiya Juandel, thanks- I much prefer superlatives to expletives.
gummie
Thanks for nitpicking, it all helps. I will get round to modeling some lashes for him.
PS the tweaking is not over yet…
zerobudgetgamemaker
Hi Zero, before subdivision the polycount’s around the 6000 mark for the head, hair, eyes and body. That’s about 3000 ZBrush quad polys.
kokoro
Hello Kokoro, cheers. I agree with you about the hair, I’ve yet to model his style properly. A better barnet is on the agenda.
neuf a la banc
even from the first image I learned that there is something irreducible and fascinating about that face, which I had not noticed before
even though, after reading an early Bond novel, I already agreed that Connery was the only true Bond
P.S. – I’m looking forward to the chest-hair tutorial
whow, Grub, you have very well the “identity”(ressemblance)of sean connery, when fighting dr no…a very difficult modelling, much more difficult than an older model!
Brilliant model Grub , it looks a lot like him. Give him a tuxedo and a stylish gun and you’re off making a new bond movie
Havran- Connery is the kind of actor that makes a film great, even now he’s still got presence (heheh, chest hair and all).
Marcel- thanks a lot, I’ve really enjoyed trying to get him right. I used to draw 2D caricatures a few years back, and I thought it was about time I had another go at a famous face in 3D. Speaking of caricatures, your Woody allen was exceptional.
The Namek- Heh, thanks- yeah, Connery come’s back in another Bond Movie, called “Never say Never (Ever, Ever) Again”.
Couldn’t sleep, might as well update. Here’s an improved version which looked good in old style b/w- not everything’s been fixed yet…
