“The proposed law was shelved by Brazil’s Congress on 18 May 2000, so the specifics of this petition are now outdated (and the e-mail address given is no longer valid)”.
In fact this petition is considered an urban legend…so relax my friends…more information about it:

Thank you very much for that then.
Thought I was helping but you helped even more.
Thanks again and sorry everyone for my dumbass mistake…
Maybe this Urban Legend can be considered as a very cynical disinformation enterprise

No harm done! :o)It’s easy to get blase about the environment when you haven’t got Bob Geldof or similar banging on about it! If this has reminded people of the fragility of our planet it’s a good thing! So much damage has already been done all over the world but especially in South America and man invariably reaps the consequences in floods, lost natural resources and near sterile farmland. Nevermind the loss of beauty and wonder!

Thanks anyway MTB
MTB,
Your desire to help and willingness to do so says more about you than you know.
A dumb ass mistake? No! You were doing what you believed in so…no mistake. A day or two late maybe…but no mistake…your heart was in the right place perhaps at the wrong time but in the right place none the less.
Don’t let this deter you from future endeavors!!
thats really great MTB,i can say that my mother already bought a part of the rainforest and my company where im working bought really much(it has nearly the size of my hometown).
Count me in - sorry just saw this post
