Thanks!
Hi guys,
I was rummaging my old stuff looking for something I made in ZBrush 4.0. I Opened a couple of files, and one of them evidently had problems of some sort and ZBrush crashed. When I fired it back up my copy of ZBrush was unregistered. I have it fixed now, but it was sort of a pain in the ass.
Just a warning, I dont know why this happened but I know that opening old files caused it.
Cheers,
Mealea
Hi beautiful Pixologic chaps,
First of all thank you for the amazing work you do!
I’m sorry if i post here not sure is the right place…due to lack of time, i’m at work trying to solve this on a friday night!)
(Please feel free to move my post where is best)
So we upgraded to this beautiful R8 P2 but upon Goz installation we realised all the uv’s of our characters in Maya were in pieces…
Any possible suggestion?
Thank you in advance!
Silvia

I need to export an .stl file
I don’t see that option
How can I do it?
The file is required for a site that allows the viewer to use their mouse to rotate, scale, zoom the image
I use the feature to show others (including clients) concepts and finals
Other sites can use other formats, but they have a high monthly fee and limited use
I quit using Adobe products and others that want to rent their software by the year/month
Software on board my system includes Rhino 3D, ZBrush, Corel Painter, Hexagon, Gimp
Thanks for your suggestions…
in 4r8 ZPlugin -> 3D Print Hub -> Import /Export STL.
thanks… will check it out
Hi guys, I use select lasso all the time to make polygroups for nice ZRemesher results. It’s great. Problem is: you usually ZRemesh when you have a fairly dense mesh, and ctrl-shift-RMB with select lasso is always accidentally hiding loops instead of polygroups!
My solutions seem to be:
a) Click 4 or 5 times in search of a point or face. Then check I don’t have loops from other polygroups in there.
b) switch to rectangle select (which I never use) because it doesn’t do the hide loop trick, and back. Slow/clunky.
c) use polygroups from mask. Tried but there’s too much geo getting masked accidentally, and masking isn’t as explicit.
Is there a way to turn this off or move it to the rectangle brush? I’ve rummaged and can’t find a preference.
Thanks!
Hello!
2 days ago I purchased ZBrush 4R8 for Windows, and got a download link from in my email.
However, the installation always stops at a certain spot and the installation window stops responding. I’ve tried doing this several times but it kept doing that in the same spot. One time I just decided to wait for 2 hours and see if it completed but it didn’t. I had my antivirus software disabled, I believe my path on my C drive was correct. I don’t know how else to fix this issue. (I have Windows 10)
This is almost certainly Windows Defender. It has been more and more of a problem in recent months. It could be other antivirus software as well, but Windows Defender is the most common culprit. Temporarily suspend such software while downloading, installing and activating. Turn it on again after everything is running properly.
If you only have Windows Defender, press the Start button and start typing “Defender” – you’ll see an option for Windows Defender Settings. Click that and then click the button to “Turn off Windows Defender Antivirus.” If the button instead says “Turn on Windows Defender Antivirus” then you have a different antivirus software running and need to disable that instead using its publisher’s directions.
These programs aren’t perfect. If they were, they wouldn’t give you an option to turn them off when they get in the way of things you actually do want to do.
So I bought a Wacom studio pro to use Zbrush on the move only to find that Zbrush doesn’t scale nicely on a 4K display, instead the icons and work area are soft and blurry as if they are being badly scaled up.
It’s pretty disappointing in 2018 that Zbrush doesn’t have native support for 4K, every piece of software I use on the tablet has a nice crisp UI except Zbrush.
Have you made sure to override high DPI scaling behavior? Right-click on the ZBrush application or its shortcut and choose Properties. You’ll find the setting in the Compatibility tab. If that’s not checked then Windows will try to scale up the UI, resulting in problems like what you’re seeing.
We just got a4k tv to use as a monitor, and I had no idea about this setting option. THANKS!
Edit: Now does someone have a preference available for a 4k display with that turned off?
if I turn off the override Hdpi and allow Zbrush to do the scaling then the icons and fonts are tiny?
Use Preferences >> Interface >> UI >> Buttons Size to scale the UI larger. This will scale the text as well.
Yeah… That’s why I asked if someone had uploaded a preferences setting file for 4k.
That half works, the icons down the right hand side of the workspace are still tiny, Edit, Scale etc. buttons at the top and minimise/maximise at the top are still tiny.
The text on the menus is all bunched up together.
Looks like the functionality is half finished.
When I fire up Photoshop or Maya it just works I don’t have to edit anything, as I originially stated, that Zbrush can’t do Native 4K in 2018 is pretty poor.
So is there any way to scale the icons on the buttons as well as the buttons? Or am I supposed to use the force to guess what the icons are?
I was really hoping that maybe 2018 would work in 4K but the functionality seems to be the same.
I’m amazed that there aren’t more people having an issue with this I guess 4K displays are still fairly uncommon.
I’m still hoping someone at pixo releases a 4k preferences interface. I’m actually back to using zbrush on my surface 4 pro, because using it on the desktop with the 4k display is just way too hard to deal with.
hi there,
I have a problem using edge bridge within ZModeler, as shown on the attachment, the poly created is kinda twisted…any solution please!
