Predator - Jungle Hunter WIP

Thanks guys!

@ Sankar: I agree  I actually think his upper arms are a little too thin as well. Am going to give that are another look-over! Thanks for pointing that out!

Here’s another update!

It’s alive!

It’s still a very early stage of the process, but I wanted to share it with you anyways. Animation and render is rough! So please keep that in mind
Ignore his untextured/missing armor, plama cutter, bio helmet and missing trophies, I’m still texturing them in Zbrush!

Great Predator mate , really nice job doing him.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
The animation on youtube ist great aswell, where did you do the animation?
Straight in zbrush? Or in maya, max or so? The rig aswell, so you have a lowpoly version of it.
Would be great to see the whole progress when the character is finished.
Looking forward to it,
Keep it up!
Cheers,
Kenny

Hey Kenny!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

All of the rigging, animation and rendering was done in 3ds MAX (with ofcourse quite a bit of post in After Effects). I do have a low(er) poly version of him that I am using for the animation, but seeing as I’m tempted to make him as cool/realistic looking as possible once I get into to the finer things of the model, I think I might use a higher poly version for the final render (using the low-poly as a proxy-rig/skin).

I am having so much fun working on this guy!

Absolutely love it already!!
The whole process has undergone a lot of care & attention, it’s totally obvious.

Much prefer the early version of predator(as you have done), it has a more organic & therefore realistic appearance.

Can’t wait to see what else you do in this project.

@ GothicGrin: Thank you so much! I am really having a lot of working on him. The Classic Predator is definitely my most favorite creature ever designed (and arguably one of Stan Winston’s best). I totally agree that newer renditions fail in comparison.

I am glad you’re liking him so far! He’s got quite a ways to go, but I intend on making him as good as possibly can! Thanks again for your awesome words of support!

absolutely amazing!

Thanks Uber!

I have enjoyed keeping up on this thread. It continues to improve and refine.

love it

@ Jerick: Thank you so much! That means a lot!

@ Werewolf: Glad you like him!

Here’s a little screen grab of some of the expressions the rig can capture (as seen in the video):

You are more than welcome Foxhound
Great work really mate, the expressions are great aswell!
Its great hearing that you have/had a totally blast while working on the predator, it definently looks like it mate!

I agree, he has created some of the best & most believable creations to the screen. Predator is a benchmark for creature creators to this day, but I also loved ‘The Relic’, the Kothoga was an unbelievable creation, it’s overall shape, the dynamics of it, along with the amalgamation of animals was second to none.

I like how you made the predators eyes look so tough.

Hey guys!

Decided to pick up my Predator again after not having touched it for a while. Really wanted to make sure that I captured his face

Here’s some more progress!

if you want to make it like it was in movie than maybe you should put the upper mendibles closer to each other and litte bit cross the lower ones like in this picture

Thanks for the reference image Mooner!
Here’s another Predator update. Ignore the bone chains and missing mesh

beautifully done, nice work on detailing the fibrous nature of the muscles, very taught and lean looking. GREAT work on the face and head. I would have made his shoulders just a bit wider to impose strength and power. They look a little narrow for this beast. excellent work !!.

i like the eyes. good job. tried one myself a while back:
check 'em out.
