Olivia Wilde WIP

You’re definitely getting there. Looking better and better. However, I think I’ve realized the problem with the eyes. They seem flat. Almost as if they are part of the skin. Are the eye balls actually spheres, or did you flatten them some? Either way, they seem “flat” for some reason. Your progress has greatly increased since that first post.

There are spheres , but maybe there are a little big i will check it out thank you!

you are no missing the overall shape. your missing the tissue under the actual skin, the fat the muscles, your sculpt looks like she doesn’t eat. if that helps. no mass no volume.

Hi!
I have done some texturing and sculpting.
Any thoughts?

just a few part i would double check if i were you :

there is really some work to do around the mouth, to give the lips a correct shape. Right now it just seem pinched

Google image search for a photo of Olivia, this one is pretty close to a straight front picture. I lined up the eyes and you can see where everything else falls. Even if her head and ears are going to be covered with hair, you need to have the shape and size right so that the hair looks like it is sitting on top of her head correctly.

Much as I hate to say it, I think you need to start again. To me, the head shape looks wrong and makes it look like you rushed intohigh subdivisions way early.

almost there
try masking her eyes, nose and mouth. then reshape her cheeks and rest of face skull to match the reference, realign eyes to the new face and see if get better to you.

the likeness to her face is strong, some more work you will reach in the results you want

Hi!
Few days since the last update, i have refined little things on the face and created hair.
Any thoughts?

There still seems to be an issue with the length of the eye lashes. The upper eyelashes should be longer than the lower eyelashes. That’s not enough, the length varies as well, going from the center of the face, they are short, fan out to becoming longer after the first 1/3 of the eye and towards the very end, near the fold of the eyelid itself, it gets short again. I think it’s a little hard to see it with faces wearing strong make up. You may need to look for images (forward, 3/4, side) as reference. You can even look in the mirror and see how your own eyelashes vary in length. There are even Eyelash Salons.

I also notice some problems with symmetry and grooming the eyelashes and eyebrows. It’s something that needs to be checked. If you’re doing it head on, there is no problem. It happens when you work on the side. For some reason, the grooming brushes always mess up for me and have the hair I tried grooming go inside the scalp on the opposite side. Just something to be aware of. You may also want to turn off the fast pre-vis of the eyelash and eybrows FiberMesh so it affects everything.

Good progress overall.

Hey bud great effort on the portrait piece just study the overall anatomy of the face and check out the lip area, plus at the jaw you gave her sagging skin which makes her look old Olivia is young so just having that sag in the skin makes someone’s subconscious go hmm that s not right something is off. Type in what make a face grow old in google and you will get an idea of what i mean peace

You should take care of the ear and make them right, it will influence the way you will work with the hair. Be carfull with the hair right now there might not be enough strand,(she look a bit bald) and the way it goes directly down is kinda weird.
It seems to me like you are rushing it, and I know sometimes it’s hard to take your time, but each wrong step you take will take you on a wrong path. This kind of work is made of patience. There is a lot of good stuff right now so keep it up ^^

If you stop posting in the CGtalk forum then I will post my recommendation here: This is a critic of your last post. but I see you did not correct some of my recommendation

What you post there I can see that your eyeballs are too big.

Use the image planes inside ZBrush and just try o match my correction in the front view (by trying an adjustment on the side too)

Hi!
I have tweak the eye lashes , the jaw , the lips and the make up texture.
Any thoughts?

It’s lookimg much better for sure.

The he corners of the mouth look wrong in some way, and I still think you have the jaws too wide, or the cranial mass too narrow. The ratio is definitely wrong. Wider at the top would look better.

The likeness is surely there, just keep practicing and listening to these helpful critiques.

Yah listen man!! you won’t improve if you don’t listen to other critics!

I can’t post a image because I’m on my iPad. However, look at this image of her…

i still think you’re not getting the shape of the head right. In your image the width goes narrower as you move up the face. In the reference it goes wider as you move up the face. The widest part is just above the temples. I would definitely fix that.

Regarding the mouth. I think you need to give the part of her mout directly above the lip terminator more volume, especially at the ends. Then have this extra volume extend out past the end of the lips slightly. Them have the lower lip end before the upper lip does, and make it look like it disappears into the face, under the top lop.

Those things are are the most obvious things I see.
