Old Duke Nukem Forever Characters

Simply awesome! I wish the game were made. Especially if it were like Serious Sam.

Great works. Me really likes the Battlelord.

oh my godd!! AWESOME!! love the design and texture of your models sir! Very very inspirational!! Its really sad about what happened…such as awesome art…! Great sculpt and execution on both the battlelord and the pig cop dude! kick butt!!

cheers!

Fabian

Wow ! These creatures looks scary !

I like the super mutant pig very much ! Great work !

some truely ugly beast’s here

whoa that pig monster is just awesome, love the textures and renders of both, great work, and very inspiring.

Amazing work, the work avoids being dated IMO, it looks top notch.

I’m surprised your thread wasn’t hijacked by the IP police like Mark’s was. lol

I’m very pleased to see this work posted here, where other like minded artists can view and appreciate the hard work individuals have created for projects that may not ever come to light.

Your efforts may be unrewarded due to the projects downfall… but your efforts are awarded my sincere appreciation for the work you and others like you have done on the Duke project.

A bit of me died when 3dreams died… childhood memories I only wished could be relived by this games sequel.

Honestly the earlier games are what gave me inspiration to create my own designs and got my young mind interested in 3d graphics.

:laughing:small_orange_diamond:laughing: Sorry to disappoint. I was working/asleep these past 12 hrs. :laughing:small_orange_diamond:laughing: Don’t worry. Said my piece already.

Anyway, ogre that I am ;), I simply love that top monster. Scares the crap out of me. That whole multiple tongues thing is creepy as hell. I wonder how well that hair would’ve shown up in the actual game. It’s so…whispy. Would’ve looked cool if it showed up well though.

The skulls on the battlelord guy is probably overkill, but it’s not your design anyway. Not your problem. Implemented nicely either way.

For what it’s worth, I think that the stuff has aged well lo these cough “many” 3-6 years. About what I’d expect to see in most games nowadays anyway.

The “Enforcer” is the only weak one of the bunch, if that’s how you want to look at it. Good texture work would’ve made him look game worthy and covered up his relative simplicity.

Cool work! :+1:

Absolutely incredible work - and the production dates merely attribute to that. :+1: 5*

Wow…Brilliant work

FANTASTIC WORK!!
the grey renders look sweet too, really brings out the details.

the mutated pig is the best, creepily awesome

Thanks for the comments guys. Just glad I can finally show some of this stuff after 3 years. Too bad it isn’t because the game shipped.

Haha, poor cooke. I read the back and forth in Mark’s thread. You brought up a good question about IP; it’s just that the way you presented sounded accusatory leading to retaliation.

Anyway, I’m following suit and only posting high res. Wish I could post some of the game models as sometimes I think it’s impressive to see good work w/ a limited poly count and texture resolution. In my time @ 3DR we went through a few drastically different budgets. When I started I was making characters w/ 3 512 textures, clocking in around 2000-2500 polys. Boss Hog was the last complete character I did. He had a 2048 map and just under 7800 polys. (to answer the hair question - I used alpha sheets and it looked damn good  ).

The Enforcer is less detailed because he was made w/ a different process. The diffuse was never applied to the high res and tiny details like rough skin/scars, scratches on armor, etc. were made w/ a bump map applied only to the game model. …which I can’t show.

Got any other models there Joe? These are awesome.
The detail in the mutated pig is great! Do you have a textured version of the Enforcer?

Hello!
I’ve been always an ULTRA FAN of Duke so everything you post here would be amazing to see.
Hope yu guys found a new job and remember you will pass to history even with an undone project. I’m really sad that Duke will not come again (and a no 3dRealms duke is not a real one)

Gentleman, Joe left in 2006 and just posted the renders on the first page to show off some old work.

Top quality renders JoeWamp. Have any other to show off?

I have some more shots of fully textured ingame models, but they’re starting to look pretty dated (they were made 3-5 years ago). Also, 3DR is still getting sued by Take Two, so I’m not sure about what can be shown.

Even if it’s dated it’d be pretty cool to see some more of the old work.
Not sure about this lawsuit though… if the work is pretty dated it could not represent the current state of the game so it couldn’t cause problems with the lawsuit. Of course that’s just my take on the matter but that’s what I believe.

Lawsuit is settled, game is released. I’m actually a huge Duke fan. I check your website quite frequently to see if your going to post some more Duke renders
