Agreed. Really uncool, lucek91. If you’re going to take the time to post on someone’s thread, why not be constructive and helpful instead of insulting? SpiritDreamer has obviously put a lot of work into these sculpts. Think before you post.
SpiritDreamer - I don’t think your poses are horrible. I think there are a couple things that you could adjust to make them feel more natural. One suggestion would be to rotate the legs of the woman over to the right side of the horse so that there’s less of a bend in the waist, then you could smooth out the mesh around the waist so the polys don’t stretch as much. Nice job on the horse, it’s looking good.

His post was constructive… his poses are poor, to be better, they need to improve. He didn’t call them stupid or insipid or banal, or things genuinely intended to offend.
Constructive doesn’t mean sugar coated, that is not what it means. The best crits in the world are the ones that make you stop and look at your work with new eyes… as painful as it may be.
This is an artistic forum, sometimes there are slams, it’s a good thing.
Not all perfectionists are an artist, thanks god, not all artists are perfectionist

Perfectionism vs art. Its a very old war. And guess who’s winning. There are lots of museums, another visit there is not a bad idea. It never was.
I never wrote a bad critic, or gave a bad vote to posts I didn’t understand or didn’t liked them. There’s no reason to do this.
and guess who is working in the 3d industry in movies, games or tv?
it’s not about perfectionism vs art, it’s always about good vs bad.
what is the point to give out a critic if you are not allow to critic someone? What is the point of a 5 stars rating system if people can’t give out a rating that match the thread’s quality?
you know what is the reason to give a critic to someone when you see something that isn’t right? it’s because people can benefit and improve from those critics. I find it amazing to see someone actually tell people there is no point to give out a “bad” critic because there is no point to do so… for fart’s sake that’s the whole point of giving out a critic, and it’s not always a pat on the head that ends with the words “good job”.

WOW,…I go to sleep to get a little shut eye for a few minutes and come back and open up my sketchbook…What do I find, a whole debate happening in my sketchbook…I LOVE IT…
Maybe I should get into this debate also.
…But to tell you the truth, I would rather go about … CREATING than DEBATING…
I will only inject a couple of words of wisdom gained by many years of experience in creating and selling my works, a very long lifetime of it in fact.
I find that whenever I hang a painting i’ve created in a gallery, or anywhere for that matter, …there will be those who upon viewing it, who will love it for whatever reason it personally appeals to them, and there will be those who hate it, for whatever personal reasons that they may have…That’s just the way it is, and will always be, and has always been…It’s called human nature.
The ones who love it buy it, and the one’s that hate it don’t.
I have been fortunite in my life to have had the number of people who love , outnumber the the number of people who hate my works.
Keeps the money rolling in, if you know what I mean…
I have a saying that keeps me going whenever I get discourged by the people who dislike or hate my works, for whatever personal reason they may have…It goes like this…
ONE CAN NEVER PLEASE EVERYONE,…AND IT IS A FOOL WHO TRIES TO.
The only ONE i’m interested in pleasing when it comes to my ART, is my own SELF…I don’t chase the money anymore, …I’ve already made enough of it, and saved enough of it to RETIRE from that game…and now just enjoy my ART and the creaton of it for the pure pleasure that it still gives me, and always has, and always will…
As far as GOOD vs. BAD goes…I’ve seen alot of what I and most people I know think is CRAP…but that ALOT of people think is GREAT… in the MOVIES, TV, and the GAMES that people play NOWDAYS
It just confirmes to me that, SOME PEOPLE will do anything to make a buck, including eating SH…T…FOR THE CORPORATIONS THAT OWN, CONTROL, AND FEED THEM…Fortunitly, i’ve never been, or will ever want or need to be one of them…
Keep the debate going guys , it keeps the fire burning, which in turn, keeps these old bones of mine, and the spirit contained within them nice and warm while I …CREATE.

Well I would call a comment like that destructive.
Constructive would be something more like: “You need to work more on the gesture of your characters, right now they look way too stiff” and so on… It doesn’t have to be “sugar coated”, not at all, but just pointing out that they are horrible and not giving any piece of advise of how to improve it is what I call destructive.
Btw, when will we see your Skeletor finished?
The last updates was looking great!

Skeletor? Not soon enough I am afraid. We’ve been really busy at work for some time now, as soon as we get back to regular hours and weekends I can start up on him again.
