I agree it looks cool, but to me the first thing I thought was that this last render with more spec looks more like a plastic maquette of the actual head. Still cool though.

Alirght! So here’s the final version of this little friend of mine…
It’s rendered in Maya/MR with SSS and finalgather, color correction in Photoshop. Of course modelled and textured in Zbrush. I feel I finally got a good grasp this super cool soft, I love it!

I’ve loved this character design since you 1st posted an image of it. It’s great that it’s not one of the ‘favortite’ types of models (such as old men and various evil looking dudes). Texturing is spot on, as is the lighting. You materials are to my eye perfect and give a really good sense of it being a non humans skin. I suppose the only weak point (and barely so) is the eyes themselves, they could do with being brought out more (maybe using light linking?) If I didn’t give this 5 stars I’d never live with myself, in fact I wish there was 6.

Whoa! Thanks alot dude! How could I get a better comment?! I guess you’re a bit right for the eyes, thought I choosed to do it the way it is because to me it felt more realistic. But I also feel that they could be modeled and textured more realistically, I’ll try to work on this for next model. Speaking of light linking, I actually have some light liked only to the eyes for extra speculars. For animation, I don’tr know if I’ll do it, this guy as no mouth interior so it would be a job to do it. I think for the next model I’ll prepare it better so I can actually animate it. Thansk again!

JR, I think character design is a pure matter of taste, it’s a very personnal thing, so if you like it it’s cool
I’ll try to elaborate a bit though…
what I personnaly don’t like is that is doesn’t seem functional to me.
the mouth position makes the cheekbones not logical for example.
And most of all I don’t like much thow it looks but once more it’s just a matter of taste.
