Just happened to me today too… sad as I have work to do… has been working fine till this morning… what a Blue Wednesday…
For anyone experiencing this issue, please try the following:
- Go to the ZStartup folder in your ZBrush installation and remove the CustomUserInterface4R2.cfg file.
- Launch ZBrush and do Web Activation again. (You should be told that ZBrush has already been activated on this machine, in which case there will be a button to request a copy of the activation key. Use that.)
- Enter the new activation code into ZBrush.
If this resolves the issue for you, please send your CustomUserInterface4R2.cfg to [email protected]. We’ll get that to the development team. Once a few of these have been sent to us we should be able to find the particular setting or combination of settings that is causing the issue.
Thanks!
Hi Aurick…
Could not find the CustomUserInterface4R2.cfg file did a search of my entire harddrive with no luck… but followed you steps above and requested a copy… seems to be working fine now…
Thanks for your time and keep the good work up…
Regards Ziggy
Hi everyone,
I figured I would post my experience with this issue so far, in case it might be of use for someone.
In chronological order:
• Reinstalled and activated Zbrush 4.0 a few days ago. (I never upgraded to R2 or R2b)
• Found out there was an R3 and checked website how to upgrade
• I found the note saying I should submit a ticket before doing anything
• Submitted a ticket and received a download link to an installer: ZBrush_4R3_Installer_WIN-resend
• I deactivated Zbrush 4.0
• Uninstalled Zbrush 4.0 from windows 7 control panel (Note: I did not clean up the leftover Zbrush 4.0 folder)
• I installed from the new file I received (ZBrush_4R3_Installer_WIN-resend)
• Activated Zbrush 4R3 by following standard procedure
The activation was accepted just fine and I used it for a few minutes, then went to bed.
When I opened it today, it immediately asked for activation.
I have solved the issue by activating again as aurick suggested - Although like Sigmund, I did not have CustomUserInterface4R2.cfg in my folder
I just hope the current activation stays.
System:
Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
CPU: i7 2600k @ 3,4Ghz
RAM: 8GB 1600Mhz
GPU: GTX570
Can you remember the things that you did during those few minutes you used it?
Well, I didn’t have much time that evening, but I was very interested in trying the dynamesh feature, so all I did was test/doodle sculpt on a few basic tools. (Sphere etc.)
I screwed up the interface a few times and had to initialize Zbrush once or twice.
After that, I imported a .obj base mesh to test on, sculpted a bit and eventually just closed Zbrush.
I also seemed to be working in Dynamesh with system crashing a few times… this eveing I am having crash after crash with Noisemaker… lets see if I have to reactive in the morning… Noisemaker just doesn’t want to work properly…
Trial and error…
My copy works fine, my wifes has activation issues. Hers was bought a few days ago. Went through disable antivirus, run on admin, logged in as admin. Reinstalled Zbrush (hers was R3 installer) activation held til next day. tried web activation 2 times and it did not work, then tried pulling the .cfg file and web activated and it started and held activation for the moment.
Hey guys,
does anyone tested to reinstall Win 7 (64bit) and then try to activate with a fresh ZBrush 4R3 installation? Would be great if that would work.
cheers
mj
Here we go again… just when I need it most… and still can’t use my Noise Maker…
Down again??? Not nice…
Reactivated and worked… but why is this happening? Will test noise maker later…
We are still looking for the cause of this. If you are having this problem, one thing I would recommend would be to not use the CustomUserInterface4R2.cfg from any earlier version of ZBrush. If you just updated from an earlier version, try renaming that file to disable it. If you installed 4R3 fresh and copied ZStartup items over, try removing that file. It’s possible that a particular setting (or combination of settings) is not compatible with 4R3 and is triggering this.
We are continuing to investigate. Until a certain cause has been found, however, all you can do is just reactivate if this happens to you again.
Hello,
I’m working with Zbrush 4r3 since one month now and I used the full installer to install it.
And now I experience the same problem.
Zbrush asks me for an activation code and when I try to activated it online it say that I have reached the max number of user.
It doesn’t recongize my pc, my pc didn’t change since my first install and I don’t have an antivirus.
No system restoration were performed either…
I was using decimation master, then zbrush freeze, so I kill the process manually.
Since then it ask for an activation code.
I send a ticket …
PLEASE HELP I REALLY HAVE TO WORK
It is a holiday weekend here until Tuesday morning. When you were told you’re out of activations, did you click the button to “View Activation History” and then submit the deactivation request form that it took you to? If not, please go through the web activation again and do that now.
After you have done it you will get an email back with a support ticket ID number. Let me know the ticket ID so that I can pull it and process it for you. It won’t be immediate, but I’ll check in on and off today.
Thank you for you’re answer.
Yes , I clicked on the link “view activation history” and I saw the list.
But…, I can’t check the box next to the computer I’m using because it says that it’s already desacticate ?
And of course I don’t want to desactivate the other one because I’ll need it Later.
I really don’t understand why I can’t check this box and why it’s already desactivate, and if it’s already desactivate why it says that I have reach the maximum of lisences ?
I always use this computer and everything was find until now.
So, as you understand I’m unable to check the box to send a request for desactivation.
so what should I do ?
I really need to work, can someone just delete totally the license who is desactivate to let me redo the process from scratch.
It has now been handled. Thanks!
