GoB: an unofficial GoZ for Blender.

When i’m using GoB from Blender to Zbrush and then using plugins like Copy Paste all visible subtools and Batch Rename from Nick’s Tools i got error:
zb_error.jpg

To avoid that error i need to rename subtool in zbrush, example: Cube to Cub and then all works fine, so something wrong happens with names when i’m using GoB, with basic import i don’t have this error:confused:

Can somebody fix it?

Thanks a lot for the tool! I love ZBrush and Blender.

Hi! I am getting this error message when trying to export from Blender to Zbrush.
Does anyone know of a solution for this?
Going from Zbrush to blender seems to be working fine.

I’m using blender 2.77 and Zbrush 4R7 p3 on windows.

Hi, I just installed GoZ for Blender. I created a simple model in Blender, then pressed the GoZ Export button, it launched ZBrush but that’s it. No model. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, did you set up the link on the ZBrush side? (Preferences > GoZ)?

I seem to be having trouble installing GoB for ZBrush. I didn’t have any trouble installing it into Blender, but when I try to activate the Blender pathway in GoZ preferences, it can’t find any files in the Blender folder. It appears to be looking for exe. files, which there are none in the 2.72 version I downloaded. Has anyone else had similar trouble with this?

…the GoZ option under preferences for ZBrush does not show ‘path to Blender’. Getting it set up in Blender worked fine, with adding on the ‘GoB_2-72.py’ file, but when I place the ‘blender’ folder in the Pixologic/GoZapps folder (where I can also see the folders for Maya, Photoshop, Modo, Cinema4D, etc.), it doesn’t seem to register with ZBrush (but in the GoZ option under preferences in the actual ZBrush application, it does list ‘path to Maya’, ‘path to Photoshop’, etc., just not the ‘path to Blender’). The only thing in the Blender folder (which is placed in the Pixolgic/GoZapps folder), after I take out the .py file, is a GoZ_Info.txt file.

I’m using a Mac.

Can someone please help me with this? Thanks.

This addon is reseting the zbrush license for some reason every time I export without having zbrush turn on. If zbrush was open before exporting with the gob button on the top of blender than it works fine. We need official support for Blender, is not the first time that I try to bring this issue and it’s been a couple of years since then :(…

I’ve been having an issue with GoZ’ing multiple subtools with subdivision levels. They all import into Blender just fine. I do my edits and all that and when I GoZ them back the first one is exported properly, and retails the details just fine. The others are split off into a new tool at the lowest subdiv level with none of the higher details. This makes editing anything over 1 subtool incredibly frustrating.

I have exactly the same problem, the subtool you want to use Goz must be in the first(top) of the list of all subtools.

Any chance of getting GoB to work with version 2.78 of blender? :frowning:

Just installed it. Worked perfectly first try.

Yeah I reinstalled and and made sure the “R” button next to “GoZ” in the tool menu and made sure blender was currently selected. I forgot all about the “R” button since all the programs I use set itself as current in Goz when I import so i just need to press goz again to export out of zbrush.

I have Zbrush Core at the moment, I’m looking to get the full package a little further down the road. I have been able to import export files without using this addon, and I do not yet fully understand appreciate vast amounts about Zbrush or Blender but, im getting there. I think I understand this addon to primarily do a few things automatically for you like unwrapping and displacement I think … But, what I do know, is that the GoZApps folder mentioned in the instructions does not exist for me. I would mention that I do the maya, cinema 4d and blah blah something another options in the interface when exporting. If I can figure out where these files belong, would dumping the file “there” work? Likely not I would imagine if it’s written specifically to function from GoZApps. But I also imagine it’s just an option function that might work from another folder? Like I said, don’t know a whole lot. Just guessing at this point.

When I was fooling around trying to go back and forth between programs with models, I noticed that doing this in just the manual obj. way … (I suppose?) the poly counts seemed to grow going from ZBrush/Blender. I don’t have anything with painting to experiment with just yet but I plan on that soon. I am sort of assuming there might be a way to reduce polys before I export to help with this? Where’s that option?

Anyhow,
TiA.

So I found the folder with the GoZ cinema/binary(&noflags etc) maya.ma, OBJ formart, Web3D standard. I’m assuming if I were to try something it would be in here. either the blender folder or, the file that’s in the blender folder maybe? something like that

Here goes nothing … hope to have a full Zbrush in june … need more brushes and options, love it.

(Edit) just to clarify, Program Files>Pixologic>ZBrushCore>ZStartup>ExportTamplates is where I find some GoZ files and maya.ma OBJ etc. Trying to fool around with this to make it work is really above my paygrade but, I have a sneaking feeling it can be done. The great gods of google haven’t lead me to any direct paths or code changes to try.

I get only two line errors on the report in blender when I hit the export button. 773 which doesn’t really declare the problem: in invoke return self.execute (content)
Then 751: false/GoZbrush/GoZ_ObjectsList.txt

Looking thru this thread there are many patches and versions.
Which is the most current working GoB?

Hey everyone.

Anyone having issues with GoB with 4R8? I can’t get mine to work anymore… worked perfectly fine with 4R7. Now I get an error message saying “Unable to open file.” And gives this path, “C:/users/Public/Pixologic/GoZBrush/Scripts/GoZ_ExportFromZBrush”. The path actually ends at GoZBrush. Scripts and beyond doesn’t exist anymore.

I know there hasn’t really been updates to this plugin for some time, but I’ll drop this here anyway, as an FYI. Maybe it’ll get fixed one day.

Cheers,
Laura

Hey Laura!

GoB is working fine with 4R8 too. I got the same error message after I uninstalled 4R7. Somehow it uninstalled the GOZ plugin. You can find the installer in the “C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 4R8\Troubleshoot Help” folder.

I hope that It can help.

Dr. Kacor, you are a life saver!! Thank you SO MUCH! <strike>Itworks just fine now, I’m so happy!</strike> It works somewhat.

Edit: Basically it worked the first time exporting a single subtool. Importing worked too. Then I tried to see if export all or visible works. It didn’t. After these attempts, it’s been glitchy. It seems to work the first time I open ZBrush and Blender, but attempting to export the same subtool again in a different Blender project doesn’t work…

I’ll try out a couple other things, see how those respond. Either way, I’ll make do with it as is, thanks again.
