Really awesome model, dude. Love the concept and how you’ve realized it from the simple design in the cartoon. Only thing that stands out to me is his knees look like they should be pulled inward more so that the leg makes more of a curve from the front. They look a bit too straight now. Can’t wait to see this one textured and posed!
Truly magnificent model
Great work, I really like your sculpting style
how did i miss this one?! nice batman dude. especially its beyond representation. nicely done. i used to watch that show when i was younger. very good work.
Thanks everyone appreciate the comments and crits.
FelixCat - yes I plan on doing a low res game version (8000 tris) thats fully textured using 1 X 2048 Diffuse/Spec/Normal and Glow maps.
sandpiper - thanks for the crits and comments bud. Gonna thicken that head up a tad. But I think I’m gonna leave his shoulders where there at, mainly because he’s supposed to be a normal teenager, I don’t wanna make him to huge, kinda wanna keep him a normal teenager size. As for the height stuff, yes I’m gonna be making some more designs pop a bit more, but again I dont want to do it too much his suit elements arent meant too pop out too much, I want everything somewhat smooth. thanks for the comments Jesse
cookepuss - thanks bud
phhmlw - Thanks for the comments bud. Metal can be pretty hard to pull off in Zbrush, usually I stick to Maya for doing hardsurface objects. For example the Belt is all done in Maya. The edges on the suit are done by using Masking for the lines then using the Inflate option under the Deformation Tool tab, I also use the Pinch brush alot in conjunction with the Smooth brush, I tend to get really nice results using these brushes together for creating nice hard edges in Z. So if u wanna try doing hard surface stuff in Z I would mask stuff out as cleanly as possible at a high Sud Division, Inflate or Deflate it too yer liking, then use the pinch and smooth brush to get a nice crisp bevel, play with the brush settings till u get something nice. good luck and cheers bro, thanks again for the nice comments
robertrageson - lol, ya maybe a tad. Thanks for the comment bud
mkk316 - thanks, masking that **** took forever to get it nice and clean, alot of patience i guess.
Gaboon - Whoa good catch Ya I’m def gonna fix that, but I coulld also just wait until i do the Low res Final pose, this sculpt is only for the Normals and Ambient Occlusion maps. Might do it anyway, just so the sculpt looks nice. Thanks bud cheers
SolidSnakexxx - Thanks
Nattawat_OBBI - Thanks again
Gohanf22 - Thanks man, ya it was a good cartoon, I still watch it once in awhile, I find it has really awesome characters in terms of style and their powers. My next character will also be from that show, not saying who yet though Thanks again
i feel the mouth face area could use some practical revision…sorry not to sure of the back story on this suit but it just seems a little false the way the suit overlays his lips…i dont have the answer my self but feel that there is room for development there…i hope this makes sence it is very late and my eyes are now square…
Great work mate. Really like the model…
couple of small crits
The head from the side view seems to be straight on top of the neck…perhaps the head could be moved forward a bit for a more natural look.
The calves and ankle look a bit too thin. this could be a stylised look but they look a bit too flattened to me.
great work overall though.
avasdad - ya i think I’m gonna revisit the lip area again, it’s really buggin me too, not sure what to do about it because in the cartoon it like goes right in his mouth and doesnt make much sense, so I’m trying to figure out how I wanna do that area still.
definitely_maybe - good eye thanks for the great crits, I’m def gonna work those areas, btw that StarCraft model is sweet
loved it, cheers
omg magnificent. I don’t remember batman beyond looking so detailed so i like your sense of style.
havent updated this thread in a long time. Thought I’d show how the Low poly is coming along. Still not done yet, working on it here and there, whenever I free up time.

Sweet, awesome detailing and mat/texture work
Now THAT’S awesome Excellent work
cool Batman concept. What´s the polycount for the lowpoly model?
Looks great already, waiting to see more.
thumbs up.
thanks, the poly count is under 10,000 tris, 9600 if i remember correctly
Dude that is off the chart!!! i lurve it!!!
That is ace! Love the detail and silhouette of him. Really well realised. It’s great how you’ve kept the nimble, and quick feeling from the cartoon but still made him feel armoured. Well done!
nice man! i like it! what was you reference?
gordon-v - Thanks, I did a quick crappy concept awhile back, I used that for reference, it’s on the first page. Thats pretty much all I used for ref, and of course some screen grabs of the cartoon.
