ZBrush 4R7: Released!

Ok, finally got it activated, didn’t get keyshot yet, as i already have marmoset, and i’ve only got 6 GB of ram in this thing, and i’m already using half of it with just crome and zbrush open, i doubt this thing would take keyshot as well.

Now i just need to start playing with it, and wait for the tut vids, :slight_smile:

( Paul Gaboury Gwen Stefani reference) everytime you think a new update can’t get any better you guys and ladies if there are ladies at pixologic blow our minds. your the only company for astists that gives up the creative freedom to make anything we can think up and have no boundaries because u guys are artists and you guyd/gals think about other artists like paul gaboury has said. 4r7 is a game changer for sure sorry other companies

4R7 ZModeler is perfect for students learning the concepts of modeling.

I keep thinking bevel is extrude though. :wink:

This version is almost unbelievable. I’m not even ticked about my bridge/Keyshot mixup.

Woo wooooo! Installed, activated and finally got to play a bit.
I’m really surprised at how well the 64-bit version runs. I ran a model up to 80 million polys and the brushes are still perfectly interactive. I thought they’d get choppy or stutter a bit. 4r6 didn’t run this well at 8 million. The undo is lagging like crazy but who cares. 80 million! :smiley: And that’s with 16GB of RAM.

Pixologic, once again you guys prove why you are one of the best software companies ever! I try not to be a fanboy but you guys deserve it.

Does anyone know anything about any potential Zclassroom updates?

Having trouble activating it :frowning: So I’ve installed zbrush 4R7 and when I go to use the web activation it doesn’t take me to the pixologic page where I can enter my information to get the activation code to paste into where it asks for it.

Hey Jan, I downloaded it tonight when I got home. Didn’t see it last night until too late as I was working until late last night on school stuff. I don’t think my littlies are up to ZBrush yet!

Thanks to all on the ZBrush team for all the work on creating and distributing 4R7. No problems so far…had a little play but my brain is fried from work so will have to have a serious look on the weekend.

I do love what I’ve seen so far though!

First everybody was crying about when will the upgrade be released… now the poor guys at PIXOLOGIC get flooded with questions why is this not working, why is that not working…

Most of the problems sit infront of the screen… of course the server crashed a couple of times - well, stop crying and give the guys some time.

kudos to the nerves of aurick who is answering all those issues.

Seriously - I have no clue which other software developer company can compete with you guys - I know service lines that are not available for weeks, I know forums with moderators that never answer any question

Thanks for such a service - buying a license almost 6 years ago was the best decision i made.

Hi everyone,

I installed KeyShot on 2 pcs, main desktop and a laptop. Same as i always do with the ZBrush as the license allows that. So when i try to activate Keyshot on my 2nd pc (laptop) it tells me that the license has been already activated.

So the question is - does Keyshot have the same license as the ZBrush (2 pcs) or am i able to activate / and use it only on 1pc? If i can only activate and use it on 1 pc then this sucks as i use my powerful laptop as a mobile working station.

If this means that i must buy a second license then this makes me scratch my head. Pixologic should have provided better explanation, rather than bury this information where no one could find it. I understand that KeyShot is developed by Luxion but still Pixologic are the ones advertising it here so they should have warned their customers about this. Or put a License description in the store as with other Pixologic products.

Perhaps i got it all wrong and there is some kind of solution here.

Moderator’s Reply: KeyShot does not allow dual applications. It uses Luxion’s activation system rather than Pixologic’s. They ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge does allow dual activations. So you would need to deactivate KeyShot when moving between two computers but not the Bridge.

Sculpting on a 33M polygons sphere, like they was 33K, is priceless…

Where did you get the keyshot license file. I purchased the bridge and keyshot for zbrush but have only received a receipt via email. However I can’t find where I download the bridge or the keyshot licence file (i downloaded the trial version of zbrush keyshot from the keyshot site).

I am pretty sure I am being thick but any help would be awesome.

Moderator’s Reply: You should have received a second email containing your download link(s). That email also had your serial number and the link to generate your license file. If you did not receive that second email and it’s not in your junk folder you will need to submit a Support ticket. Be aware that it will be several days before we can reply to that ticket, unfortunately.

Pixologic is the only graphics program manufacturer that I know who doesn’t rip off their purchasers. I am awe inspired not only by the product but by the company.

Guys do you know if its possible to send over manually your model to keyshot as i already own it. i know i can purchase the bridge but i was wondering if there was a manual way also.

There are so many new, and welcome features in 4R7 that you’d be forgiven for expecting lots of graphics to appear with the large pdf documentation (What’s New Guide) that comes with the new build. Sadly this is not the case and for beginners (not me) they are going to be sadly let down as this great graphics program suffers again from a total absence of graphics showing the new Zmodeler tools ‘in action.’ There is, however, a token graphic describing edge manipulation but once again the documentation is a letdown with typos on several pages that should have been picked up when proof read.
I had a play with Zmodeler today and it’s good, very good, but using it in a suck it and see manner is not my favourite method of learning software and there still appear to be some bugs in a few of the routines that are a bit baffling given the software was beta tested (I guess) over many months e.g. making an internal extrusion in a box and deleting a face shows a clean cut through the model - you can see what’s on the other side - but when you rotate the model, the back does not have a hole and appears to be untouched by the delete operation. Pushing a face right through the model didn’t seem to have much effect and it was my belief that like Sketchup, the face would automatically be deleted, it wasn’t. After playing with 4R7 for about an hour when I tried out most of the Zmodeler functions, I created a .obj file and took it into 3ds max only to discover that four - perhaps more - of my extruded polys had just ‘vanished.’
I know there are Zbrush zealots out there who will not enjoy reading anything that describes faults in the program, but there are faults that need to be addressed. That said, this is a great update and it seems to be delivering what a lot of the pre-release hype promised, but documention and beta testing are a bit of a letdown. For me - I’m essentially a 3ds max hard surface modeller - the enhancements in 4R7 indicate that maybe one day soon I can do all of my hard surface work in Zbrush alone, once the problems are ironed out of course. This is a highly recommended update.

Deathwish just export your model as a OBJ and then import it into Keyshot.

You will have to apply your textures in keyshot.
