Making a directional brush stroke

Antimorph how did you do it? (the image you posted above)

Hi Washington
You have the Stroke “Spray” who permit a sort of cycle of colors!
Just play with the regulates and colors
If you put the slider of the flow (and Size)to 0,
you will obtain a new color at each brushing with the same size of Alpha
(take an astucious Alpha you can grabb a piece of your wife painting by the way!
So play with the regulates!
many combinaisons are possible!!!
So you can simulate the brush painter
I see that you love “the impresionnistes”

Painting with Zbrush is magic

No I mean how did Antimorph make the trail with arrows. I hope he did not use Cameyo’s zPlace!

I know, I just answer to your other question
“Would u like to have this in Zbrush”
So it’s yes
See one post above

Matt said brush stroke rotation is not supported. I am going to quit on zBrush for a while until they release new version and I will check it see how well my money is spent.

I posted many good suggestions for zBrush improvement. I hope that ZBrush team will take it to make you guys happy.

Hi Washington
You write
“This include cos, sin, tan, and other math codes”
I don’t understand why Cameyo’s Zplace gives you problems !
It’s very more easy than entry your above formula
Pilou
Ps Sorry I have, suddenly a doubt!
Have you a “handicap” (hand with no full motricity or such of thing)?

I clicked on Cameyo’s zPlace buttons several times and it gave me nothing. I followed the instruction and still did not get anywhere. I assume that I missed something. Oh well

My suggested is more simpler with two pins to get on mouse path. With formula dialog is open source for mathmaticans/developer to put equations in it to control brush behavior. Cameyo’s scalers can be added in it. I am not disagreeing with Cameyo but I did not get anywhere with his script to get the result.

Washington,

You complain about ZBrush’s core functionality. When someone shows you a ZScript that can do something that you want, you complain that you don’t like to use ZScripts and basically only want to use the core functionality. When you do try the ZScript, you complain about it.

What do you want? If you want a program that is going to do everything that you want it to do in exactly the way that you want it to be done, then the only way you will be satisfied is if you start programming it yourself. ZBrush is a powerful program with many innovative features. One of these features – ZScripting – allows ZBrush’s capabilities to be expanded in many remarkable ways. Many users have generously donated their time and efforts to create ZScripts for your use. If you don’t like the ZScripts which exist, then write your own. But stop complaining about everything and essentially belittling the help that people are trying to give to you!

What’s more, in one of your posts here, you complain that “with current version of zBrush…” you are stuck. Fine. Let’s say (for the sake of argument, only) that this is really true, that ZBrush can’t do what you want and that no ZScript could either. You know that the new version is almost here. Wouldn’t it be a lot friendlier – not to mention more constructive – to hold your criticism until the new version has been released and you’ve had a chance to see what’s there? We’ve certainly asked you to. More than once.

Do you realize that in all 127 of your posts, you have never once thanked anyone for the help that you have received? The members of ZBC clearly want to help you. I want to help you. Both of these facts are proven by the fact that this thread has gotten to be two pages going on three in length, not to mention all of the other responses that you’ve received to all of your other posts. But I honestly have to say that this continuous negativity is getting really old.

I’m sorry if this sounds like I’m getting a little snippy. I don’t want to be. But you called me on the phone to complain that you’re not getting any help on this subject, and now I come to the thread and see that you’ve gotten a LOT of help. In fact, it appears that Antimorph has accomplished exactly what it is that you would like to do. Why didn’t you wait to see his answer as to how before you called to complain that you weren’t getting help?

Aurick,

I was not complaining until I found out that it was not really supported. Cameyo’s script is nice but it did not work for me. I spent several hours on his script and never got a single result. I never said that his script is bad. But ZBrush software really is a bad program due to many limitations and frustrations. I am programmer but do not have time to write because I have a project that I must finish. ZBrush software took so much of my time away from my project because I am supposed to use some of ZBrush’s features for my project. That is why I paid hundreds of dollar on it. What do you think how I should feel when I found out that it just wasted my money and my time. Please do not post something like that in forum to embarrass me or pull me into argument with you.

You said
“But ZBrush software really is a bad program due to many limitations and frustrations.”
???
We can’t be agree with that!
And you are a programer !
Maybe the stress
Bon courage!
Pilou

YES! Right Frenchy Pilou!! I alway am stressed with my project!! I am supposed to finish earlier!! It is true because I do not have any patience left to play and test with Cameyo’s zPlace script and other features inside ZBrush.

Pix’s tease screenshot of his models is making me nut!! I need a jacket from state hospital to hold myself down.

Aurick,

I checked my previous posts. I have said thank yous in some threads.

I never get any thanks from you for my brilliant suggestions and efforts to improve zBrush it was not negative part at all.

Looking at the second set of images, I think there is a method for achieving something like this using core functionality. I will post an example shortly.

Hopefully this approximates your needs, the technique uses the fiber brush (which is directional thanks to its grooming property).

I question your approach at this forum.

A frontier of discovery;

directional.zip

The script stops ‘before’ material effects are painted, to access those above, follow:

Activate the single layer brush created by the script and available in the tools panel. Access the Picker and turn off “continuous color” if it is enabled (by selecting the solid color square in the picker color section).

Good luck with your experiments.

Cool idea Anti
I have no think to the fiber brush!
You have made a beautiful “Vincent Van Gogh” indeed
Pilou

Antimorph,

Thank you for the script and show me some techiques what zBrush can do. I wish that SimpleBrush2 had directional like fiberbrush.

Is it possible to create flat hair brush with fiberbrush and two colors?

Here is an example what I tried to do with Alpha and SimpleBrush2 with 2 colors.

Frenchy

I suggest you experiment Washington, I think it probably is possible. I may have a try at it later.

I spent hours researching on fiberBrush I am no where near to what I posted prior image. I need something that paints only on 2D texture map for 3D skinning.

Here is another image of realistic looking fibers.

Thank you

Some ideas:

although Alphas can only rotate 90 degrees at a time, the Stencil can rotate freely – so the final effect can be achieved by moving and painting through the stencil

although it would be slower than automatic brush rotation within a single stroke, it would have the advantage of more control over the placement and rotation of the steps

given the above, maybe a clever Zscript could automate this use of the stencil:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>user would size and position the stencil in north-south orientation
<LI>user would paint the path to follow (one continuous stroke)
<LI>script would delete the stroke and extract 10 or 20 X-Y positions from the path (i.e. every 10% or 5% of the total stroke)
<LI>from these points, the steps and rotation angles would be calculated
<LI>script would move, rotate and paint through the stencil
[/list]

p.s. – cool painting, antimorph!
